Question:
If I want to publish with a self-publishing company, do I have to give them world rights as standard?
Answer:
No, you should never give up world rights as standard and you should ask any publisher as to the plans they have for your book in a particular territory or language. If for instance the book will be available in English language and sales will mainly be in the US, you may want to request that the agreement on covers English language within the territory of the US. You will then have the other rights available to you to trade elsewhere.
