Frayed Edge Press is a small independent publishing house based in Philadelphia. We publish literary fiction and poetry, as well asnon-fiction titles in history and political science. We also publish the Street Smart Series of Short Fiction, consisting of contemporary, urban-set novelette-length works. We especially welcome marginalized voices, both historical and contemporary, including women, people of color, ethnic and religious minorities, the LGBTQ+ community, and progressive political viewpoints. The traditional publishing house is one of Germany's best-known advice publishers and has been based in Leipzig for 75 years. Emerging from the former Verlag für die Frau, the largest fashion and advice publisher in the GDR, today's BuchVerlag für die Frau successfully continues the book programme. Today, it is a constant on the German book market as a whole. The program is strongly positioned in the culinary field, which includes the cookbook classics "We cook well" and "Das Backbuch" as well as the Thuringian kitchen library. Another successful series is the mini-library, which now contains 360 volumes. First published in 1985, it will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2020. The Publishing House and its History Established in St. Petersburg in 1792, today Gerstenberg is one of Germany’s oldest publishing houses. A family business, the publishing house moved to new headquarters in Hildesheim in 1796 and to this day occupies the same address in the old city marketplace as it did then. The most important branch of the publishing business, however, was the Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung, which, incidentally, is the oldest daily newspaper still in existence in Germany. Today, the name of Gerstenberg is synonymous with delightful, innovative books of aesthetic design and high-quality content for children and young adults that compete very successfully also on the international market. An adult range comprising illustrated books, non-fiction and cookery books also forms part of the Gerstenberg portfolio. Program Gerstenberg publishes board picture books, picture books, children’s and young adult narrative literature and non-fiction. With Eric Carle’s »The Very Hungry Caterpillar« (»Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt«) and Rotraut Susanne Berner’s ›discovery picture books‹ (›Wimmelbücher‹), Gerstenberg became one of the best-known children’s book publishers. In 1999, the anthology of poetry »Dunkel war’s, der Mond schien helle«, came out as the first in Gerstenberg’s series of household compendiums, a segment that has since developed into a main pillar of the program. Pinter & Martin is an independent publishing company based in London. Most of our books are distributed worldwide. We publish authors who challenge the status quo. We specialise in pregnancy, birth & parenting, health & nutrition, psychology and yoga. Pinter & Martin was founded on May 9th, 1997 by the writer and film-maker Martin Wagner and childbirth educator Maria Pinter, when we realised that Stanley Milgram's extraordinary book Obedience to Authority was out of print in the UK. Some milestones were the publication of Childbirth without Fear in 2004, which started our ever-growing pregnancy, birth & parenting list; Irrationality in 2007, which was our first genuine bestseller; and the publication of The Politics of Breastfeeding in 2009, followed by our first book for La Leche League International, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding in 2010.
