Sechs moderne Theaterstücke

Samuel Beckett zeigt in Katastrophe, wie ein Gefangener in Szene gesetzt wird. Ihm gelingt zweierlei: die Katastrophe des Gefangenen zu zeigen und zugleich die ›Katastrophe‹ dessen, der dieses Elend darzustellen versucht. Edward Bond nennt sein neues Stück »Sommer« im Untertitel ein ›europäisches‹ Stück und sagt, er schreibe nicht über einen Deutschen (der in dem Stück von den Greueln der Vergangenheit berichtet, als beschreibe er einen Sonntagsausflug), sondern er schreibe über das Böse als etwas ganz Banales. C.P. Taylor versteht sein Stück »so gut, so schlecht« über den Nazi-Professor Halder als Frage nach seiner eigenen (unserer) Rolle hinsichtlich der ›Friedensverbrechen‹ der westlichen Welt gegenüber der Dritten Welt. Martin Walser untersucht, ob Abhängigkeit und Selbstverwirklichung notwendig ein Widerspruch sind. Zeitlich näher ist uns Rotter, den Thomas Brasch in seinem gleichnamigen Stück beschreibt. Wie soll man einen neuen Staat aufbauen, wenn die Menschen dieselben geblieben sind? Das Irland O'Caseys, wie weit ist das? Viel näher, als man denken könnte. Das, was in der Routine des Alltags zur Selbstverständlichkeit geworden ist, bricht unvermutet heftig aus: der bigotte Katholizismus des Stadtrats Reiligan und der ihn unterstützenden Geistlichkeit, der primitive Antikommunismus.

There were eminent scientists who lacked intellectual integrity, such as Leibniz, or who arouse feelings of both admiration and revulsion, for instance Fritz Haber, and more: Archimedes, one of the founders of mathematics and inventor of advanced weaponry; Benjamin Franklin - businessman, pioneer of the theory of electricity, diplomat, author, and statesman; Davy – a sharp and brilliant chemist; and so on to the renowned astrophysicist Chandrasekhar, one of the scientists who, in recent decades, discovered astounding facts about the universe. Along with the biographies of scientists, the book contains short stories about subjects on the outskirts of science - stories that are interesting and amusing, but instructive as well. Felix Dothan is Professor Emeritus of Physics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Ou, par exemple, Archimède – un des fondateurs des mathématiques et l’inventeur d’armes perfectionnées; Franklin – homme d’affaires et pionnier de la théorie de l’électricité, diplomate, écrivain et homme d’état; Davy – chimiste brillant et actif; et ainsi de suite jusqu’au célèbre astrophysicien Chandrasekhar, un des hommes de science qui découvrirent de nombreux faits sur l’univers durant la dernière décennie. Parmi les biographies de savants, sont insérées de courtes anecdotes en bordure de la science –à la fois intéressantes et amusantes, mais aussi avec une moralité intellectuelle. Félix Dothan est un professeur émérite de physique à l’Université Hébraïque de Jérusalem. Né en Yougoslavie, il a fait ses études au Technion de Haïfa et a un doctorat de l’Université Hébraïque. Le domaine de sa recherche est la physique des gaz chargés électriquement (les «plasmas») et les technologies des hautes tensions. L’auteur était également chercheur invité au Centre Européen de Recherche Nucléaire (CERN) à Genève, et professeur invité à l’Université de Californie et à l’Université de Yale. Le Pr Dothan a reçu en 2001 le Prix du Chef d’Etat Major de l’armée israélienne pour l’œuvre de sa vie dans le domaine technologique (particulièrement pour l’établissement du projet «Talpioth» pour l’encouragement des soldats intellectuellement doués). Although an effective rabies vaccine has existed since 1885, rabies continues to kill an estimated 59,000 people, and uncalculated animals, every year. Sixty per cent of these human deaths occur in Asia. To work towards the global target of eliminating dog-mediated rabies by 2030, the rabies community is applying the One Health approach. Written by a multidisciplinary group of scholars and rabies control programme specialists, this book is a collection of experiences and observations on the challenges and successes along the path to rabies control and prevention in Asia.
