Das den Band und seine Beiträge bestimmende Interesse ist es, Konzepte der Semiotik aufeinander zu beziehen, sie im Sinne der »Kritischen Theorie« zu interpretieren, um Ideologie auf der Ebene der »Textstruktur« erfassen zu können.

Toxocara is a parasitic helminth worm which continues to stimulate both public concern and scientific interest. Innovative Scaling up with Soil Nutrients

The livelihoods of millions of people in developing countries, which depend on dryland agriculture to ensure their food security and their well-being, could be improved measurably by gains in agricultural crop yields. This book describes lessons learnt from an innovative scheme in India that improved crop yields in drylands. It shows how the scheme can be scaled up for other dryland regions of the world. The scheme uses localized soil nutrient analyses to create an integrated, climate smart fertilizer and planting plan that maximises yields for farmers. This book describes how a partnership between a global scientific organization (such as International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, ICRISAT) and state and non-state actors can provide a route to equitable growth, specifically for small and marginal farmers, and how this approach can be replicated worldwide to enhance rural livelihoods. Ludwig Wittgenstein wurde am 26. April 1889 als Sohn des Großindustriellen Karl Wittgenstein in Wien geboren und starb am 29. April 1951 in Cambridge. Er erhielt zunächst Privatunterricht und besuchte ab 1903 eine Realschule in Linz. Er studierte von 1906 bis 1908 Ingenieurswissenschaften an der Technischen Hochschule Charlottenburg und wechselte dann für weitere drei Jahre nach Manchester. Dort forschte er zur Aeronautik. Er begann, sich für philosophische Themen zu interessieren und trat 1912 in das Trinity College in Cambridge. Ab diesem Jahr begann Wittgenstein mit den Arbeiten an seinem ersten philosophischen Werk, der Logisch-philosophischen Abhandlung, die er in einem Tagebuch als Notizen bis 1917 festhielt. Auch während seiner Zeit als österreichischer Freiwilliger im Ersten Weltkrieg arbeitete er daran weiter, bis er das Werk schließlich im Sommer 1918 vollendete. Es erschien jedoch erst 1921 in einer fehlerhaften Version in der Zeitschrift Annalen der Naturphilosophie. 1922 wurde schließlich eine zweisprachige Ausgabe unter dem heute bekannten Titel der englischen Übersetzung veröffentlicht: Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. Abgesehen von zwei kleineren philosophischen Aufsätzen und einem Wörterbuch für Volksschulen blieb die Logisch-philosophische Abhandlung das einzige zu Lebzeiten veröffentlichte Werk Wittgensteins. 1953 erschien posthum das Werk Philosophische Untersuchungen. Data sheets on quarantine pests for the European Union and for the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization. This book is the result of collaboration between EPPO and CAB INTERNATIONAL, sponsored by the Commission of the European Union, to prepare data sheets on pests of plants of quarantine significance for Europe and the Mediterranean region. Coverage extends to insects, mites, fungi, bacteria, viruses, nematodes and parasitic plants. It includes organisms that are found outside Europe and the Mediterranean that present a risk to this region, as well as those that are present but have restricted distribution and are subject to phytosanitary controls. The format of the FAO model data sheet is followed, using standard headings: identity, hosts, geographical distribution, biology, detection and identification, means of movement and dispersal, pest significance (including economic impact, control and phytosanitary risk), phytosanitary measures, and bibliography. The first edition of this book was published in December 1992 and consisted of 188 data sheets, some covering groups of similar organisms. During the intervening four years pests have been added to the EU and EPPO lists and changes have occurred in host range, geographical distribution, taxonomy and pest status of many of the organisms described. All data sheets have therefore been revised, some data sheets covering groups of similar organisms have been split up and 56 new sheets added, resulting in a total of 300 data sheets. The second edition will continue therefore to represent a definitive reference source, not only for those with specific interests in plant quarantine, but also for all concerned with pest management.
