View Rights PortalTAMER Institute for Community Education is an educational non-governmental non for profit organization established in 1989 as a natural and necessary response to the urgent needs of the Palestinian community during the first intifada (uprising). The most important of these is the need to acquire means to help people learn and become productive. Focusing principally on the rights to education, identity, freedom of expression, and access to information,Tamer works across the West Bank and Gaza Strip, primarily targeting children and young adults to encourage and deepen opportunities of learning among them. Our program aims to contribute to enhancing reading, writing and all forms of Expression among children and young adults. It also aims at contributing to a Palestinian environment that is supportive to learning processes, and at supporting the literary and scholar production on child culture in Palestine.
View Rights PortalTamara’s book is something you can hold in your hands and read now but before it was just a dream. Tamara’s dream was kept in a beautiful box and when the box was opened up, it became possible for the dream to come true. This book is evidence that dreams can come true.
Having exploded on the margins of Europe, Chornobyl marked the end of the Soviet Union and tied the era of postmodernism in Western Europe with nuclear consciousness. The Post-Chornobyl Library in Tamara Hundorova’s book becomes a metaphor of a new Ukrainian literature of the 1990s, which emerges out of the Chornobyl nuclear trauma of the 26th of April, 1986. Ukrainian postmodernism turns into a writing of trauma and reflects the collisions of the post-Soviet time as well as the processes of decolonization of the national culture. A carnivalization of the apocalypse is the main paradigm of the post-Chornobyl text, which appeals to “homelessness” and the repetition of “the end of histories.” Ironic language game, polymorphism of characters, taboo breaking, and filling in the gaps of national culture testify to the fact that the Ukrainians were liberating themselves from the totalitarian past and entering the society of the spectacle. Along this way, the post-Chornobyl character turns into an ironist, meets with the Other, experiences a split of his or her self, and witnesses a shift of geo-cultural landscapes.

The events of the novel unfold in the spring and summer of 2014 in Donetsk. Donbas is a zeroing out point; it’s a place of strength where the country’s most important questions have sounded. And only there are the necessary answers hidden. It was here that the novel’s nameless heroine lost her family, home, job, and illusions, and it was here that she gathered up the fragments of her life and discovered new meaning and new support. Step by step the reader observes the process of transformation, the metamorphosis of a crop-sower into a warrior. Because war is when you eat the earth. So what’s more important than feeding the earth?
