Gravitation toward CVE programming is new for most Pakistani organizations as large amounts of funding only recently became available. However, there is little emphasis on the technical capacity to understand the nature of violent extremism and how CSOs can fight it. This brief discusses both the challenges to implementing CVE programs and recommendations for how stakeholders can overcome these challenges. This report examines the determinants of religious tolerance in Pakistan, particularly among Shias and Sunnis and the role that religious authorities may play in reducing sectarian prejudice. It draws insights from surveys conducted in Punjab and Quetta, Balochistan, between January and April 2014, as well as interviews conducted by the authors in Islamabad with religious leaders and experts on Shia-Sunni relations.

Based on a one-day public workshop held in Washington, DC, Opportunities and Obstacles in Large-Scale Biomass Utilization: The Role of the Chemical Sciences and Engineering Communities: A Workshop Summary explores the current state of biomass utilization for bulk-production of sustainable fuels and chemicals. The discussion focused on the chemistry and chemical engineering opportunities to meet the aforementioned objectives. Both formal presentations and breakout working groups were components of the workshop in an effort to stimulate engaging discussion among participants from widely varying fields.

It covers major disease and pest damages with the methods to combat them in fibre crop cultivations.
