        by Nicole von Hoerschelmann

      • Breaking the Silence. Studies of the new tendancies of Expression.

by Hala Kamal, Serine Wagdy, Ahmed Kheir, Deena Gamil, Menna Agha and Sara Abdeen

It is often said that the Revolution of January 25th launched the spark of change in social relations. However, nobody cared about studying the forms of such change and ways of expressing it. This book deals with the relation between the ego and the other, considering awareness of body freedom against self-censorship and collective authority. It is true that Egypt has so far lacked a broad and popular "social movement" that advocates for women's rights. However, the accumulation of individual practices of women who made the revolution and women made by the revolution reveals a vast sea of unorganized changes that are moving towards one goal in the field of women's relations with men: A movement for liberation and equality in the most ancient field of oppression in history: the oppression of women.

        Forget Atlas

        by Teresa Ibars

        Our Strange Body

Philosophical Reflections on Identity and Medical Interventions

        by Jenny Slatman

The ever increasing ability of medical technology to reshape the human body in fundamental ways - from organ and tissue transplants to reconstructive surgery and prosthetics - is something now largely taken for granted. But for a philosopher, such interventions raise fundamental and fascinating questions about our sense of individual identity and its relationship to the physical body. Drawing on and engaging with philosophers from across the centuries, Jenny Slatman here develops a novel argument: that our own body always entails a strange dimension, a strangeness that enables us to incorporate radical physical changes.

LAS MUJERES ESCRITORAS EN LA HISTORIA DE LA LITERATURA ESPAÑOLA.

by MONTEJO GURRUCHAGA, Lucía; et al.

        The horse killer

        A strange story from Mecklenburg

        by Siegfried Stang

A series of cruel horse murders in the Mecklenburg Lake District is causing disgust and horror nationwide. However, the police are initially groping in the dark and are coming under increasing pressure. This is also felt by Chief Inspector Tim Asfeld, the investigator in charge. And suddenly it is no longer just about the horses. People are also in acute danger of their lives. The young theology student Pia, who lives alone in a deserted bungalow settlement in the fall, is increasingly drawn into the maelstrom of events. She is exposed to strange, aggressive actions, the reason for which she puzzles and who is responsible. Then the events come thick and fast. And several people die. Author Siegfried Stang has incorporated his decades of experience as a criminalist into an exciting and only gradually understandable story. Thus the novel can convince with a realistic representation. Similarities with living or already deceased persons would be however nevertheless purely coincidental. The author of the book succeeds in describing the psychological background of the crimes in a plausible and comprehensible way. The criminologists and the reader only learn bit by bit why everything happens the way it did - seemingly inevitably.

        ANA

        by Roberto Santiago

Ana Tramel: With A for attorney. With A for addicted to alcohol, pills and sex. And with A for anaesthetized (to emotions, adjectives, and sycophants). In this story absolutely everything revolves around her, the protagonist, narrator and dynamo of the plot. In her forties, she’s about to experience a journey to the dark side of the gambling world, and to come up against an international corporation that deals in thousands of millions and has hundreds of lawyers on their payroll. Said with the utmost humility: from this moment on, we are all AnaTramel. In ANA nothing is what it seems. Not one of the characters is exactly a saint. And as Patricia Highsmith said of one of her stories ‘they are going to see a woman do what no male protagonist in literature of the past forty years would dare: behave with compassion, heroism and expose her body and soul to humiliation’.
