Reformed identity and conformity in England, 1559–1714
by Jake Griesel, Esther Counsell
This volume is the first collection of essays to focus specifically on how Reformed theology and ecclesiology related to one of the most consequential issues between the Elizabethan Settlement (1559) and the Hanoverian Succession (1714), namely conformity to the Church of England. This volume enriches scholarly understandings of how Reformed identity was understood in the Tudor and Stuart periods, and how it influenced both clerical and lay attitudes towards the English Church's government, liturgy and doctrine. In a reflection of how established religion pervaded all aspects of civic life in the early modern world and was sharply contested within both ecclesiastical and political spheres, this volume includes chapters that focus variously on the ecclesio-political, liturgical, and doctrinal aspects of conformity.

Nutrition and Feeding Organic Cattle
by Robert Blair
Organic cattle farming is on the increase, with consumer demand for organic milk and meat growing yearly. Beginning with an overview of the aims and principles behind organic cattle production, this book presents extensive information about how to feed cattle so that the milk and meat produced meet organic standards, and provides a comprehensive summary of ruminant digestive processes and nutrition. Since the publication of the first edition, global consumers have increasingly become concerned with the sustainability of meat production. Here, Robert Blair considers the interrelationships of sustainable practices and profitability of organic herds, reviewing how to improve forage production and quality, and minimizing the need for supplementary feeding using off-farm ingredients. This new edition also covers: - Managing a recurrent shortage of organic feed ingredients, due to increased GM feed crop cultivation worldwide - Current findings on appropriate breeds and grazing systems for forage-based organic production - Diet-related health issues in organic herds and the effects of organic production on meat and milk quality. Required reading for animal science researchers, advisory personnel that service the organic milk and beef industries and students interested in organic milk and meat production, this book is also a useful resource for organic farming associations, veterinarians, and feed and food industry personnel.

Agriculture & related industriesJuly 2006Sociological Perspectives of Organic Agriculture
From Pioneer to Policy
by Edited by Georgina Holt, Matthew Reed
This book takes a fresh look at understanding the dynamics of the organic agricultural sector in Europe, Australia, South America and the US. Many of the authors explore the use of combined methodology, drawing on theory from a range of social sciences to demonstrate that the complexity of organic agriculture lies in the close connection between nature, society and the economy. Likewise, whilst the book depicts organic agriculture as an engine of growth for the organic sector, it reflects also the important role played by, not only producers but also, other actors in the supply chain, such as consumers and certification standards.

Digital Governance in India
Policies, Practices, and Challenges
by G. Durga Rao
Digital Governance in India: Policies, Practices, and Challenges offers a rigorous, India-centric account of how ICTs have reshaped the state–citizen relationship over the last two decades and how they can power Viksit Bharat@2047. Bridging theory and practice, the book maps the evolution from e-government pilots to platformized service delivery at national scale—covering legal-policy frameworks, federated digital infrastructures (India Stack, Aadhaar, UPI, DigiLocker), and sectoral platforms that now mediate education, health, agriculture, finance, and justice. Going beyond “what works,” it interrogates implementation gaps, ethical risks, data governance, and inclusion—especially across rural–urban, gender, linguistic, and disability divides—while highlighting innovations from states, municipalities, start-ups, and civil society. Designed for graduate/postgraduate courses in Public Administration and allied social sciences, the volume blends conceptual clarity with applied learning through Indian caselets, policy design exercises, and evaluation toolkits. By foregrounding constitutional values, participatory design, and accountability, the book argues for a people-centric digital state—efficient and transparent, yet also just and humane. It equips students, researchers, and practitioners to critically assess outcomes, measure public value, and craft the next generation of reforms for an inclusive, resilient, and future-ready India. Key Features ? India-specific theory–practice synthesis with comparative cues ? Deep dives on law, policy, standards, and architectures (APIs, ID, payments, cloud, broadband) ? Caselets from Union, state, and urban/rural contexts; failure analyses included ? Ethics, privacy, cybersecurity, and AI governance integrated throughout ? Outcome & impact evaluation templates; M&E rubrics and logic models ? Teaching aids: discussion prompts, assignments, and capstone policy studio

System Simulation and Agromet Advisory Services
by BV Ramana Rao, Surender Singh & V Uma Maheswara Rao
This book offers a comprehensive insight into the integration of system simulation tools and agrometeorological advisory services, aimed at enhancing climate-resilient agricultural decision-making. Designed for students, researchers, extension professionals, and policy planners, it highlights the role of dynamic simulation models in forecasting crop growth, evaluating management practices, and delivering timely and location-specific weather-based advisories to farmers. As agriculture increasingly faces challenges from climate variability and extreme weather events, agromet advisories serve as critical instruments for reducing risk and improving farm-level preparedness. The book presents a structured understanding of simulation approaches for modeling soil-plant-atmosphere interactions and links them with operational agromet advisory services in India and other regions. It explores the role of decision support systems (DSS), climate-smart strategies, and digital innovations in the delivery of these advisories. Drawing on interdisciplinary knowledge from agrometeorology, crop modeling, ICT, ITK, and extension science, the book also documents field-level experiences, success stories, and case studies that demonstrate how simulation-aided advisories have transformed traditional farming systems. Emphasis is laid on tools such as DSSAT, APSIM, and other region-specific models and their application in both research and operational contexts. Importantly, the book underscores the significance of integrating local knowledge, feedback loops, and stakeholder participation in the development and dissemination of advisories. It reflects the growing need to transform agromet services from being data providers to knowledge enablers for smallholder farmers. Overall, this publication is a timely contribution to the knowledge base on system simulation and climate services for agriculture. It aligns with global goals of food security, climate adaptation, and sustainable farming, and serves as a valuable resource for professionals working at the interface of weather, technology, and agriculture.

by Susan Barker, Volker Oldenburg

May 1985Wie entsteht Religion?
by Alfred North Whitehead, Hans Günter Holl

May 2021Escapades in Evolution
Of humans, chimps and other capers of nature
by Matthias Glaubrecht
Humans are rapidly changing the conditions of evolution, and while many species have not yet been discovered, the extinction of numerous species is becoming more and more dramatic. In this book, Matthias Glaubrecht contrasts the impending “end of evolution”, of which the evolutionary biologist writes in his bestseller of the same name, with the beauty, diversity and also the whims of nature. In 36 short chapters, the zoologist presents the animal and the all-tooanimal from the curiosity cabinet of evolution, easy to understand and with a good touch of humour – from dinosaurs with four wings to the annual new “Minnelied” hit of the humpback whale to the women’s communes of bonobos who use sex as a form of social bonding.

December 2024Rural SME Business Management
The Human Factor
by Peter L Nuthall
This book is about managerial ability and how it might be assessed and improved, and it focuses on rural Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Traditionally, business studies have seldom covered the manager as a person and a decision maker in any great depth. Personnel management, production economics, financing, operations analysis techniques, etc. tend to be emphasized but the personal attributes of the decision makers have as much influence on success as the rules of good decision making. This book aims to correct this imbalance. The human characteristics of managers that define how a manager operates are explored, as are their impact on managerial ability. The details of the competencies a manager must possess are also presented and discussed as well as potential detracting biases. The book concludes with methods and techniques covering personal characteristic changes and associated managerial improvement. The concepts and conclusions of this book are all based on a body of research, excerpts of which are quoted in the text, drawn from the rich sources available in the international literature. Case studies describing successful managers and management advisors are used throughout. · First book which specifically focuses on human factors and decision making for SME managers. · Introduces new research specifically on the quantification of intuition, the primary decision making method used in SMEs. · Contains essential material required by researchers of decision making processes, business studies teachers, and extension workers from the world of SME business.

May 2002Die Religion der Gesellschaft
by Niklas Luhmann, André Kieserling

March 2022The History and Evolution of Tourism
by Prokopis A Christou
This book provides an overview of the history and evolution of tourism to the present, and speculates on possible and probable change into the future. It discusses significant travel, tourism and hospitality events while referring to tourism-related notions and theories that have been developed since the beginnings of tourism. Even so, its scope moves beyond simply a detailed historical account of facts and events from the past and attempts to bridge these with contemporary issues, challenges and concerns, so that readers can connect tourism past with the present and future, which helps with decision making and even the development of new theories. Despite its academic orientation, the book is written in an approachable style enabling a clear and solid understanding of how tourism has evolved through the centuries. It uses several practitioner-linked, real-life examples and case studies derived from organisations and enterprises across all aspects of the tourism, travel and events industries. This book will be of great interest to academics, practitioners and students from a wide variety of disciplines, including tourism, hospitality, and events, sociology, psychology and human geography.
