T. Shevchenko. Life in art
by Dmytro Stus, Tetyana Chuiko, Anastasia Morozova, Yulia Shilenko
Of course, the fate of the artist was formed in a certain way because he realized his vocation - to be a poet. On the other hand, he lived his life as a professional artist. After graduating from the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, T. Shevchenko worked as an artist in the Temporary Commission for the consideration of ancient acts (Kyiv Archaeographic Commission), applied for the position of drawing teacher at the University of St. Volodymyr in Kyiv. And when his plans were broken by arrest, then in exile, despite the strict imperial ban on writing and drawing, the artist was able to work in his specialty, although not officially. Shevchenko devoted the last years of his life to the development of etching, having received the title of academician in engraving. The publication consists of two parts. The first is devoted to the works of the artist, made in graphic techniques, as well as sepia and watercolor. Given the fact that there are few oil paintings in the artist's works, we singled them out in the second part, trying to break stereotypes about their perception. Each section of the first part is devoted to a separate genre, which was addressed by T. Shevchenko. The largest of the sections are divided into thematic headings, which allows you to see the works of the artist from a new, perhaps unexpected, angle. In turn, the commentary to each work contains a brief history of creation (places, circumstances, relationships, etc.) and artistic characteristics that reveal the performing skills of the author. In addition, an important addition is the part of the commentary "Interesting" and quotes from the novels, Diary, correspondence of the artist, memoirs of his contemporaries. You can start your acquaintance with the publication from any section or even heading. Traveling through Shevchenko's paintings on separate routes you will have a complete rich journey through the original world of the artist.

Vasyl Stus. Life as Art
by Dmytro Stus
No one knows what the mystery of fame is. It often happens that someone who was in the epicenter of events all his life is forgotten immediately after death. Vasyl Stus became widely known after his reburial in 1989. What is the reason for this: poetic creativity? heroic life? irreconcilable position? the ability to care about someone else's pain? The poet's son, Dmytro, tries to find answers to these and many other questions, skillfully combining verified biographical information about the life of Vasyl Stus with his own memories and observations about his father. The litetary style of Dmytro's writing is very peculiar. He juxtaposes conflicting contexts, and combines academic and fictional styles of writing. The book is about the poet and dissident Vasyl Stus through the eyes of a researcher and a son. It is intended for a wide range of readers: from students to academicians.

The case of Vasyl Stus
by Vakhtanh Kipiani
Poet and civil rights activist Vasyl Stus (1938-1985) could not attend any of his book presentations. He published his literary works only abroad. This book contains documents from a six-volume criminal case, which is stored on the shelves of the former Committee for State Security archive of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in Kyiv. The book contains archival documents of the case of Vasyl Stus (records of searches, interrogations, letters, articles, etc.), photographs, articles wrote by Vakhtang Kipiani. Selected Poetry
by Vasyl Stus
Vasyl Stus was not only a poet of rare talent, publicist, translator and literary critic, but he is also a personification of "the voice of conscience in the world of shaky and blurred concepts of honour, truth, decency." He spent nearly half of his life in Soviet detention centres, solitary confinement cells, Mordovian and Kolyma camps and toiling at mines. The Soviet penal system deprived him of family visits, seized his poems, letters and manuscripts, physically abused him and tried to destroy him morally but it never managed to break his spirit. The poems in this collection are the best examples of Vasyl Stus's lyrics. In these lines, civic motives and the artist's pain for the fate of Ukraine are intertwined with a delicate lace of love lyrics and philosophical reflections on life and the purpose of man. Poems are full of hope and unyielding resolve.

Knights of the Famished Renaissance
by Dmytro Horbachov
The phenomenon of the Ukrainian avant-garde was first revealed to the Western world in 1973 at the "Tatlin's dream" London exhibition where for the first time, world-class paintings by little known Ukrainian avant-garde artists Vasyl Yermylov and Oleksandr Bohomazov were exhibited. This famous show raised awareness also of other world-famous masters who, by origin, upbringing, self identification, and national traditions were associated with Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Odesa. Apart from the above-mentioned artists, the book mentions “the most faithful son of Ukraine” Davyd Burliuk, as well as Kazymyr Malevych, a Pole who considered himself Ukrainian; Volodymyr Tatlin, a professor of Kyiv Art Institute and bandura player; Oleksandra Ekster, a founder of the Ukrainian school of constructivist scenography; artists of the "Culture League"; Oleksandr Arkhypenko, a phenomenal sculptor. Supplemented with extensive cultural studies and personal memories of the author, the book is designed to present the reader with a complete picture of the origins and formation of the Ukrainian artistic avant-garde. Compiled by Oleksiy Sinchenko.

Ukrainian Artistic Avant-Garde: Manifestos, Essays, Talks, Memoirs, Letters
by Dmytro Horbachov (editor)
The publication is an anthology of rear and previously unpublished texts written by thirty-four representatives of the Ukrainian avant-garde: artists who act as critics and scientists; art critics acting as analysts and conceptualists; poets and writers who act as creators and analysts of contemporary artistic forms. The reader receives a thematic, personal, and philosophical variety of views on the creative "systematisation" of the artistic form in Ukrainian visual art of the 1910s-1930s. The reader is put amidst the creative disputes, the struggle of ambitions and the agreements on methodologies, a kaleidoscope of multidirectional search for artistic truth and seclusion in the social inevitability of historical events The genre of the texts vary. From a didactic nature of journalistic essays to the sharpness of manifestos and sometimes angry desperation of discussions — forms a stereoscopic sketch of trends and groups of that time in all the complexity, inconsistency, and therefore poignancy of the proclaimed positions.

Spenser and Donne
Thinking poets
by Yulia Ryzhik
The names Edmund Spenser and John Donne are typically associated with different ages in English poetry, the former with the sixteenth century and the Elizabethan Golden Age, the latter with the 'metaphysical' poets of the seventeenth century. This collection of essays, part of The Manchester Spenser series, brings together leading Spenser and Donne scholars to challenge this dichotomous view and to engage critically with both poets, not only at the sites of direct allusion, imitation, or parody, but also in terms of common preoccupations and continuities of thought, informed by the literary and historical contexts of the politically and intellectually turbulent turn of the century. Juxtaposing these two poets, so apparently unlike one another, for comparison rather than contrast changes our understanding of each poet individually and moves towards a more holistic, relational view of their poetics.
