Stories  of  the  Malays  of  Pulau  Pinang  has  been  ignored and mostly disappeared from the memories  of many. Thus, the experience and description of the  ‘Tanjong people’ and people from other areas in the  island  or  mainland  must  be  told  and  published  for  the benefit of future generation. It is for this reason  that  this  book  on  the  narrative  of  Pulau  Pinang  Malay community  life is written under the CenPRIS‐ Dato’  Jenaton  Lecture  Series  project  that  began  in  November  2016.  The  stories  that  have  marked  the  history  and  shaped  the  community  was  told  by  invited speakers from various backgrounds. They are  the  source  of  history  who  shared  their  stories,  and  also interpreted and encouraged discussions on  the  history and heritage of the Malays, not to forget the  encounter  of  Malay‐Islam  with  other  cultures  and  ethnicities in and outside  of  the Malay archipelago.  The stories and description of the life in Tanjong, Air  Itam,  Batu  Uban,  Bagan  and  Balik  Pulau,  and  the  importance of  family  tree are  the stories you might  heard before, but never in great detail as written in  this book.

        Chile geopoético

        by Miguel Laborde

      • Islam and Religious Expression in Malaysia

Islam and Religious Expression in Malaysia

        by Mohd Azizuddin Mohd Sani

This book attempts to analyse the concept of religious expression vis-à-vis freedom of speech in Malaysia from the philosophical, political and theoretical perspectives. It begins by discussing the major sources of religious expression that are firmly rooted in the societal and religious beliefs, constitution and legislation of the country. It also examines multiple facets of the Islamization policy in the country and to what extent such policy affects the exercise of domestic religious expression. The problems and challenges of domestic religious expression, theoretically and practically, will also be examined including the issues of radicalization and terrorism. After a change of power from the Barisan Nasional (BN) to Pakatan Harapan (PH) in 2018, this book attempts to explain PH’s approach in dealing with the issue of Islam and religious expression in Malaysia. Lastly, this book intends to identify and observe how Malaysian society and the state react to the issue of religious expression.    "Prof. Azizuddin makes an eloquent case for robust freedom of expression that is consistent with Malaysian conditions. This is a most welcome and important book that could and should have a major impact. It is a timely and thoughtful examination of the complex and serious issue of Islam vis-à-vis religious expression in Malaysia. It also illustrates the transition from the restrictive-stability approach of the Barisan Nasional administration to an open-freedom approach of the Pakatan Harapan government."  Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah, Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Malaysia    "Racial and religious hatred are examples of the many difficulties to which freedom of expression can give rise. These difficulties are likely to be especially serious in multicultural and multireligious societies, such as Malaysia. In such contexts there is a need to weigh the importance of freedom of expression for an effective democracy against the need to maintain social order and the conditions of political civility that are also essential to democratic dialogue. This is the challenge that Prof. Azizuddin addresses in his ambitious new book."  John Horton, Emeritus Professor of Politics, Keele University, United Kingdom    "This important book is a must read for anyone interested in understanding the nexus between rights and religion in Malaysia. Not only does it trace the contestation over religious expression, it also provides a valuable analysis of the expansion of the religious bureaucracy and the underlying and changing cultural responses of the Malay community to the new political terrain."  Bridget Welsh, Honorary Research Associate, University of Nottingham Asia Research Institute Malaysia (UoNARI-M)

        by Juan David Enciso

Peace is an idea, an abstract concept, which must be grounded in concrete realities. And building peace involves moving from an initial state, which may or may not be conflict, to a second moment in which people have learned to know, relate, meet, and live together.   This book tries to elaborate on the construction of peace from an educational process, in which individuals learn to recognize themselves as subjects of equal dignity and with the capacity to carry out projects oriented to the common good. Similarly, educational settings, the so-called learning environments, are not confined exclusively to the walls of the classroom or the boundaries of formal education institutions: peace education occurs in any environment in which two or more coincide. people with potential conflicts of interest or collective construction.

        Sociología de la imagen

Miradas Ch'ixi desde la historia andina

        by Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui

        by Massimo Giustetti

        by Sergio Bambaren

      • Next Stop Anagnina

        by Meri Jo

A fun trip on Rome’s means of transport that brings a good mood, flavored by the attitudes and habits of the Romans who have to interact with unsuspecting tourists. Meri Jo, with the pleasure of her spontaneity, has given shape to her personal and shareable flow of thought that can be found in the everyday life of those who take the public transport of the city. A different way to live and laugh about the sometimes unthinkable dynamics that characterize commuters and tourists; in particular on the "Metro A” of Rome.

        by Alessandro Stringhini

Five teenagers with complicated lives, chained in their own problems in their insurmountable eyes, find themselves in the library of Oaksage Town, the town where they grew up.  It will be the very essence of the library to lead them on an intricate adventure greater than them, between fantastic creatures and characters from fairy tales and legends belonging to folklore and popular tradition.

The First Evangelization in Earliest Christianity

        New Revised and Expanded Edition

        by Santiago Guijarro

When during the spring of 50 AD Paul arrived at Corinth in the company of Silvanus and Timothy, he met Prisca and Aquila, expelled from Rome on account of their faith. Since that moment, the Roman couple joined Paul’s group and supported him on his mission. The letters written by the apostle and his collaborators, as well as the book of the Acts of the Apostles, offer much information regarding this missionary group, yet very scarce data about other groups, giving us the impression they were the leading and almost exclusive actors of the first evangelization. We know, nonetheless, there were other groups as well as a series of anonymous individual witnesses who carried out an intense missionary activity during the apostolic era. That first and diverse mission was a singular historical event, part of the collective memory on what Christian churches founded and keep founding their identity and their evangelizing task throughout the ages.
