        Tis Pity She's a Whore

        By John Ford

        by Martin White

John Ford's tragedy, first printed in 1633, is the first major English play to take as its theme a subject still rarely handled: fulfilled incest between brother and sister. This Revels Plays edition is a scholarly, modern-spelling edition of one of the most studied and performed of all plays of the period. White's critical introduction explores the textual and theatrical histories of the play, exploring closely its relationship to the particular stage and audience for which it was written. This Revels edition allows the modern reader to become, in Ford's words, an 'actor that but reads'.

The Classic of Mountains and Seas (Picture Version)

        by Huang Xuran, Tang Sulan

"The Classic of Mountains and Seas (Picture Version)" is a children's traditional cultural enlightenment book with a fresh perspective. Selected representative and interesting chapters in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" were drawn into the book, which depicts a series of images in "The Classic of Mountains and Seas" such as water systems, mountains, vegetations, trees, mountain gods, sacred beasts, water monsters, etc. In this imaginative picture book, images are vivid and the story theme is ups and downs. The author extracts nourishment from the profound ancient myths, and then creates new stories that children can understand. The whole book takes a retro and creative form with concise and simple text and simple and freehand ink painting through the mountain and sea scriptures, depicting a mythical world where the heavens and the earth are prevalent and the gods and monsters are in chaos.

Adaptation and resilience in the performing arts

        The pandemic and beyond

        by Pascale Aebischer, Rachael Nicholas

This book offers insights into some of the digital innovations, structural adaptations and analogue solutions that enabled live performance in the UK to survive through the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides evidence of values-led policies and practices that have improved the wellbeing of the creative workforce and have increased access to live performance. Through sections that address digital innovations, workforce resilience and programming live performances outdoors and in community settings, this book provides practical insights into the challenges live performance faced during the pandemic. It shows how, in order to survive, individuals and companies within the sector drew on the creativity and resourcefulness of its workforce, and on new and existing networks. In these accounts, the pandemic functioned as catalyst for technological innovations, stock-taking regarding exploitative industry structures, and a re-valuing of the role of live performance for community-building.

Temperature Adaptation in a Changing Climate

        Nature at Risk

by Edited by Kenneth B Storey, Karen K Tanino.

Temperature adaptation is a much neglected field in the minds of climate change researchers and policy makers. However, increasing fluctuations in temperature mean that the risk of cold and heat stress will pose an increasing threat to both wild and cultivated plants and animals, with frost injury expected to cause devastating damage to crops on an increasingly large scale. Thus, improving shared knowledge of the biological mechanisms of temperature adaptation in plants and animals will help prevent major losses of crops and genetic resources in the future.

Climate Change Impact and Adaptation in Agricultural Systems

by Edited by Jurg Fuhrer, P J Gregory.

The focus of this book is future global climate change and its implications for agricultural systems which are the main sources of agricultural goods and services provided to society. These systems are either based on crop or livestock production, or on combinations of the two, with characteristics that differ between regions and between levels of management intensity. In turn, they also differ in their sensitivity to projected future changes in climate, and improvements to increase climate-resilience need to be tailored to the specific needs of each system. The book will bring together a series of chapters that provide scientific insights to possible implications of projected climate changes for different important types of crop and livestock systems, and a discussion of options for adaptive and mitigative management.

Decentralized Governance of Adaptation to Climate Change in Africa

        by Esbern Friis-Hansen

Based on fieldwork carried out in Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania and Ghana, this book shows how local governance institutions change the way that they work as they engage with climate change adaptation initiatives, and how the tendency of power and finance to be centralised at national level reduces the effectiveness and efficiency of real change on the ground. The evidence of these studies is that central government and international projects are neither cost effective nor institutionally sustainable; what is needed is devolution of power and resources to the local level. It's time to turn the old mantra on its head - to think globally but act locally.

        Ulysses

        by Nicolas Mahler, James Joyce

Dublin, 16.

The book systematically describes the perceptions, aspirations as elicited/voiced by the farmers and identifies determinants of adaptation decisions. Chapters identify constraints and opportunities that are translated into indicative intervention recommendations towards climate resilient farm households in the semi-arid tropics of Asia and Africa. Bovine Tuberculosis

by Mark Chambers, Stephen Gordon, Francisco Olea-Popelka, Paul Barrow

This book is contemporary, topical and global in its approach, and provides an essential, comprehensive treatise on bovine tuberculosis and the bacterium that causes it, Mycobacterium bovis. Bovine tuberculosis remains a major cause of economic loss in cattle industries worldwide, exacerbated in some countries by the presence of a substantial wildlife reservoir. It is a major zoonosis, causing human infection through consumption of unpasteurised milk or by close contact with infected animals. Following a systematic approach, expert international authors cover epidemiology and the global situation; microbial virulence and pathogenesis; host responses to the pathogen; and diagnosis and control of the disease. Aimed at researchers and practising veterinarians, this book is essential for those needing comprehensive information on the pathogen and disease, and offers a summary of key information learned from human tuberculosis research. It will be useful to those studying the infection and for those responsible for controlling the disease.
