We present to you a rhino that actually once circled the earth in the spaceship, an artist cat from Paris known by everyone, the adventures, and wanderlust of a tiny house, and love stories kissed by the sun... Curious? If you are looking for children's books with a universal message of hope and connectedness, we'd love the opportunity to meet with you. Inner Flower Child Books is a children's book publisher founded in California in 2012 by the creative team of author Susan Schaefer Bernardo (M.A. English Languages and Literature, Yale University) and illustrator Courtenay Fletcher (BFA Advertising/Graphic Design, Art Center College of Design). These artists and their team produce profound, touching, and humorously inspiring books that have become very successful in the US. With wittiness, humor, and intelligence — with rhymes at times — they create stories that promote children's language and social capabilities development. Partly because of that, Susan’s and Courtenay's picture books are used nationwide by schools, children's charities, therapists, and families across the United States to help children and youth heal from problems, large and small. At a time when the whole world is being hit by the trauma of a pandemic, books such as “Sun Kisses and Moon Hugs” bring children and young people a comforting message of love and connection. The colorfully illustrated and inspiring picture books contain generally assignable topics such as healing trauma, bringing people closer to living a sustainable life, and the power of creative expression — predestined to be successful worldwide. (Speaking of worldwide distribution: one of Susan’s and Courtenay's books, “The Rhino Who Swallowed The Storm” was sent to the International Space Station to orbit the planet — and was read aloud by astronaut Kate Rubins as part of the innovative “Story Time From Space” program and broadcasted! Apart from that, “The Rhino” was also promoted by former, then-incumbent First Lady Michelle Obama and present presidential candidate Joe Biden. For more information, please visit our website!). All Inner Flower Child Books titles are currently only published in the United States. Susan and Courtenay are therefore pleased to be able to offer publication and subsidiary rights on all other world markets for the first time. Bean Trellis, My Mother-in-law

        by Ma Ruifang

As the Chinese saying goes, "mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law are natural enemies". However, Bean Trellis, My Mother-in-law depicts the close bond of the author as daughter-in-law with her mother-in-law for more than three decades. Wherein lies the secret?   "仁" Benevolence, "义" righteousness, "礼" courtesy, "智" wisdom, and "信" faith are constant beliefs of the Chinese people, which in the author's eyes are also the most admirable qualities of her mother-in-law, who is illiterate, yet hardworking, kind, and full of the wisdom of simple life. Her kindness and generosity is just the secret to the well-being of the whole family.   Aside from describing the unique in-law relationship, this book also looks at the ups and downs of a big Chinese family from the 1970s to the 2020s. With humorous and documentary storytelling, the author wrote her life stories just like chatting with neighbors under the bean trellis. It is all-encompassing, containing traditional Chinese wisdom about getting along with the world, educating children, and even cooking, which could provide new reading experiences and inspiration for all readers.

Contes de la forêt et de la savane

        Fables d'ici et d'ailleurs

by Ntsama Abah, Balafun studio by K. Willy

"Contes de la forêt et de la savane (Fables d'ici et d'ailleurs)" is a collection of tales that immerses us at the crossroads of different Cameroonian cultures and, in a broader sense, of Central Africa. Here, through a very surprising mixture of French-speaking literature and mother tongue which is based on this particular cultural context, the author allows the power and delicacy of oral transmission to shine through in all simplicity in our regions. Consisting of ten tales of unequal lengths, the book presents the exceptional adventures of different living beings in which man meets much more than his “animal” or “insect” brothers… Indeed, and through these multiple adventures, the reader rubs shoulders with wisdom as well as its history and that of the world in which he lives.

        Divided Isles

Solomon Islands and the China Switch

        by Edward Acton Cavanough

In 2019, Solomon Islands made international headlines when the country severed its decades-old alliance with Taiwan in exchange for a partnership with Beijing. The decision prompted international condemnation and terrified Australian security experts, who feared Australia's historical Pacific advantage would come unstuck. This development is often framed as another example of China's inevitable capture of the region - but this misrepresents how and why the decision was made, and how Solomon Islanders have skilfully leveraged global angst over China to achieve extraordinary gains. Despite Solomon Islands' importance to Australia, local readers know little about the country, a fragile island-nation stretching over a thousand islands and speaking seventy indigenous languages. In Divided Isles, Edward Cavanough explains how the switch played out on the ground and its extraordinary potential consequences. He speaks with the dissidents and politicians who shape Solomon Islands' politics, and to the ordinary people whose lives have been upended by a decision that has changed the country - and the region - forever.

PHILOSOPHER’S LOVE – FROM SOCRATES TO FOUCAULT

        by Manfred Geier

Love is a long-burning issue of philosophy. From antiquity to the present day, people have philosophised about love, which reveals itself in a variety of forms and norms. But what really happens when philosophers not only philosophise, but also love, from the initial games of seduction to the culmination of sexual lust? With the aid of eleven biographical case studies, from Socrates and Augustine to Martin Heidegger and Michael Foucault, Manfred Geier, author of several biographies on philosophers, documents how without their erotic lust, the philosophers would not have become searchers of wisdom.
