        Strangler in the Night

        by Roger Butters

In this, the third in the series of Jim Danzig murder mysteries, the private investigator is instructed by the family of the late Stuart Brooksbank, a crooked solicitor whose affairs were under investigation by the Law Society. The police were satisfied that his death was a case of suicide, but the family (possibly influenced by the fact that this finding would invalidate the deceased’s life insurance policy) are not. Full investigation of Brooksbank’s affairs discloses some very unsavoury items including attempted murder, fraud and several adulteries, before matters culminate in another violent death. Despite the usual threats to his life, and a punch-up with one of the chief suspects, Danzig ultimately succeeds in bringing the culprit to justice. Third in a series of modern murder mysteries starring Jim Danzig, a private eye operating in a medium-sized town in the English Midlands. Approximately 60,000 words.
