Description
Agam is an attempt to hear and amplify the voices of those who are most affected by climate change. The book speaks to young readers who are experiencing the impacts of climate change and will be most affected. The selections in the book will spur discussion in classrooms and positive action to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis in their communities, powered by imagination and creativity.
How?
- Agam includes teaching modules that can be integrated with any curriculum to make climate change a theme across the various subjects.
- Agam will encourage young learners to initiate projects that will help make their communities more resilient

- Kathy Jetñil-Kijiner, Marshall Islands. Ambassador for Culture of the Climate Vulnerable Forum. In 214, Jetñil-Kijiner performed her poem ‘Dear Matafele Peinem,’ at the opening of the U.N. Climate Forum in New York
- Luisa Igloria, Philippines and USA. Poet Laureate for Virginia 2020-2022. 2006 National Writers Union Prize. 2018 Center for Book Arts Letterpress Chapbook Prize. 2015 Inaugural Resurgence Prize for Ecopoetry.
- Leonardo Padura, Cuba. Premio Principe de Asturias de Las Letras, Ibero-American equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Literature. 2013 Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France.
- Irma Pineda, Mexico. Latin American to representative to the U.N. Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues 2020-2022. Author of seven books of bilingual Isthmus Zapotec-Spanish poetry.
- Fiston Mwanza Mujila, Democratic Republic of Congo. 2016 Etisalat Prize for Literature. 2017 International Literature Award from Berlin's Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the foundation Elementarteilchen.
- Siphiwe Ndlovu, Zimbabwe. 2019 Sunday Times’ Literary Awards’ Barry Ronge Fiction Prize for her first novel, The Theory of Flight.
