Historischer Thriller
by Szrama, Bettina
Description
Hungary 1594. The young aristocratic Susanna von Weißenburg leaves for the court of the Hungarian countess Elizabeth Báthory with the hope for a bright future. But what actually awaits her on the Sárvár Castle turns out to be a nightmare.
Fascinated by the magnificence of the Hungarian high nobility Susanna yields to Elizabeth’s false temptations. But when the countess’ brother is killed, Susanna’s loyal servant gets convicted and mutilated. All on her own she blunders into the circle of intrigues and betrayal herself. Despite the strange processes in the Castle, the nightly death cries and Elizabeth’s two faces, Susanna ignores all the warnings initially, until she seems to be at the mercy of the boundless power of the insane countess. Gradually Susanna becomes sure of the fact that the one side of Elizabeth never knew what the other side did.
