Das wilde Kind von Hameln
by Szrama, Bettina
Description
The spectacular case of the wild Peter of Hamelin 1724:
The sudden appearance of a savaged lad near Hamelin causes speculations and assumptions at the electoral court of Hannover. The detective Aristide Burchardy investigates in the mysterious case. But the wild Peter, how he is addressed in Hamelin from then on, will not speak and acts like a wolf. All of this is not as interesting to Aristide, though, as the electoral emblem is, which flaunts from a scrap of clothing the naked boy has around his neck. Peter is accommodated in the almshouse and there meets Grete, the daughter of the warden. She finds out something about his origin without letting anyone know. She runs away with Peter, because she feels connected to him, and accompanies him on his adventurous way to the royal court of George I. Not only the king himself, but also the warden of a penitentiary, an English Lord and a princess from Hannover are very interested in the savage. Again and again Grete crosses paths with Aristides until he saves her life with the aim of getting the scrap. When he finally gets to know Peter’s secret, he has to realize that he himself plays an important role within this story about power, murder and intrigues. Is there a chance for his love to Grete anyways?
