Childhood obesity is increasingly common and is associated with increased health risks, including cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, with earlier onset rendering more dire consequences. While prevention is the ultimate goal, treatment and a return to a healthy weight can see outcomes in these individuals return to levels similar to those of never-obese individuals.
