Home to German high class literature and nonfiction

In 1977 the publishing houses Klett (founded in 1936 by Ernst Klett) and Cotta (founded in 1659) unified and formed Klett-Cotta.
Since its foundation, the concentration on a high class literary program was fundamental, as Klett-Cotta has been one of the most important publishing houses during the classical epoch in Germany (e.g. publications of Friedrich Schiller and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe). Until today the publishing house manages the rights of important German writers like Ernst Jünger und Gottfried Benn.

These days not only Klett-Cotta's literary program is diverse and gains a lot of attention from press and media. With best-selling authors like Wolfram Eilenberger (rights of “Time of the Magicians” sold to more than 20 territories), Klett-Cotta also offers a wide range of successful nonfiction books, mainly focused on historical and psychological topics. Aside from that, Klett-Cotta is the German home to some of the most important Fantasy authors of our time, like J.R.R. Tolkien.
