El-Maraya for Arts & Culture is an independent Publisher based in Cairo.
Founded in 2016, the company’s long-term ambition is to become a platform of critical voices and to introduce new avenues of creativity in the various cultural fields.
El Maraya publishes original books in Humanities and Fiction as well as translated books.
Working apart from the mainstream culture, El Maraya was awarded by The Best Collection of Poems at the Cairo International Book Fair Awards in 2021, the State Award for Translation in 2022 and the Sawiris Awards for Non-Fiction in 2023.
El Maraya is not only distinguished by books based on studies by Arab and Egyptian researchers, especially in Humanities and Political Economy, but also by excellent translations for authors like Chris Harman, John Molineau, Helen Lackner, Gilbert Achkar and Mickaël Correia.
The Non Fiction list includes Marie N’Diaye, Fred Vargas, Lou Drofenick, Clare Azzopardi, Pierre Gazio and Gay Boraliuglu.
