Founded in 2008, Editorial El Cuervo is an independent publisher based in La Paz, Bolivia.

We have published the most outstanding of contemporary Bolivian and Latin American literature, including authors such as Rodrigo Hasbún, Wilmer Urrelo, Liliana Colanzi, Giovanna Rivero, Gabriela Alemán, Maximiliano Barrientos, Fabián Casas, Patricio Pron, Nona Fernández, Mariana Enriquez, and more recently translations to spanish of Goncalo Tavares, Roland Schimmepfennig and Alex Vella Gera, among several others.

In this process, we have created an international catalog containing 71 publications to date, in collections dedicated to fiction, non-fiction, essay, illustration, and translations, with a presence in more than 12 countries (with distribution in Peru, Chile and Argentina).  

We also attach great importance to the design of our books, which has earned us national and foreign awards such as “Schönste Buchproduktion” (UNESCO–Stiftung Buchkunst – Frankfurter Buchmesse, 2016) and “Mejor Libro Editado” (XVIII Feria internacional del Libro de Santa Cruz de la Sierra – Frankfurt Buchmesse, 2017). We have also represented Bolivia at various international fairs and events, often selected as special guests in recognition to our work.

We have created a community of readers through our social networks, through which we interact with the public in a close and direct way (Book Club, conferences, book delivery, sale promotions)   (through messages on our social networks, google analytics).

We believe we have contributed to the diversity of the literary field in the region by creating new readers and offering new content to the public at affordable prices, bringing to light the work of leading Latin American and Bolivian authors who would otherwise be left out of the business. In this way we feel that we contribute to education and equity, particularly in a country like Bolivia with systemic limitations in its cultural policies and infrastructure.
