Dunhuang Art represents the Chinese traditional plastic art and Chinese Aesthetics. It is also the product of cultural, economic and religion communication through the Silk Road. These books introduce the valuable position that Dunhuang Art occupied in the field of Chinese painting history, carving history, calligraphy history, religious art and Sino-Western cultural exchange. It also talks about the comparative study of Dunhuang Art and Middle Asia art, Indian art.
Dunhuang, an art treasure which was built from 366AD to the Qing Dynasty (17~20th Century). Thousands of precious history materials written in different languages and various sculptures, wall-paintings made in different times were stored in the grotto as the sacrifice to the Buddha, thus providing us a panorama of Chinese Art history, including sculpture, painting, calligraphy and religion.
