View Rights PortalEvents, described by Vasyl Makhno in a debut collection of short prose, are happening at different times and in different places, and no matter who the storyteller is – a man over fifty, a grey-headed widow or a little boy – you believe them; because there are no author’s generalizations, conclusions or guidelines. These impartial stories tell us about fates of completely different people, honestly and without pathos. It is honesty and simplicity that make this prose so different; common and simple details, at first sight, add mystery and hold the reader in suspense throughout the entire book.
No one knows what the mystery of fame is. It often happens that someone who was in the epicenter of events all his life is forgotten immediately after death. Vasyl Stus became widely known after his reburial in 1989. What is the reason for this: poetic creativity? heroic life? irreconcilable position? the ability to care about someone else's pain? The poet's son, Dmytro, tries to find answers to these and many other questions, skillfully combining verified biographical information about the life of Vasyl Stus with his own memories and observations about his father. The litetary style of Dmytro's writing is very peculiar. He juxtaposes conflicting contexts, and combines academic and fictional styles of writing. The book is about the poet and dissident Vasyl Stus through the eyes of a researcher and a son. It is intended for a wide range of readers: from students to academicians.
Selected poems from almost all of his poetry collections are included in the book by Vasyl‘ Holoborod‘ko (born in 1945), a prominent representative of the Kyiv School of Poets, one of the most famous Ukrainian poets in the world literary context of the 20th Century. Despite Soviet censorship and persecutions, the poet managed to remain a nonconformist, making a significant contribution to the literary process. At one time, the anthology of the world poetry of the 20th century was published in Belgrade, with a telling title From the Bengalee Rabindranath Tagore to the Ukrainian Vasyl‘ Holoborod‘ko. In 1966, Holoborodko wrote a prophetic poem that began as follows, "They stole my name..." And in 2016, his name was stolen from him when his name was given to the main character of the entertainment TV show Servant of the People... Nevertheless, as history proves, the Poet also has a chance to win. But, perhaps, only after earthly life...
Vasyl Stus was not only a poet of rare talent, publicist, translator and literary critic, but he is also a personification of "the voice of conscience in the world of shaky and blurred concepts of honour, truth, decency." He spent nearly half of his life in Soviet detention centres, solitary confinement cells, Mordovian and Kolyma camps and toiling at mines. The Soviet penal system deprived him of family visits, seized his poems, letters and manuscripts, physically abused him and tried to destroy him morally but it never managed to break his spirit.The poems in this collection are the best examples of Vasyl Stus's lyrics. In these lines, civic motives and the artist's pain for the fate of Ukraine are intertwined with a delicate lace of love lyrics and philosophical reflections on life and the purpose of man. Poems are full of hope and unyielding resolve.
Poet and civil rights activist Vasyl Stus (1938-1985) could not attend any of his book presentations. He published his literary works only abroad. Participation in the movement of protesters to the Russification and anti-Ukrainian politics and an active people’s rights protection stance led Stus to the court bench to times and both for the anti-Soviet agitation and propaganda. This book contains documents from a six-volume criminal case, which is stored on the shelves of the former Committee for State Security archive of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic in Kyiv. The book contains archival documents of the case of Vasyl Stus (records of searches, interrogations, letters, articles, etc.), photographs, articles wrote by Vakhtang Kipiani. The last lifetime notes of Stus are also added - "From the camp notebook", secretly passed to his friends from the soviet camp. Preface to the book is written by Vakhtang Kipiani.

The collection of materials of oral history and local history journalism is the first archeographic and memorial publication in Ukraine, which directly reproduces the causes, circumstances and socio-demographic consequences of the post-war famine of 1946-1947 in Ukraine. Veselova’s ascetic activity, thoughtful reflections by A.I. Bondarchuk, an eyewitness to the famine disaster, and a collection of memoirs and journalistic materials arranged according to the administrative and territorial division of Ukraine. This book is the first detailed look at the contribution of artists from Ukraine to the phenomenon known as the School of Paris. Many Ukrainian artists, such as Alexander Archipenko, Mykhailo Boichuk, Sonia Delaunay, Sophia Lewitska, Vladimir Baranoff-Rossiné, and Hannah Orloff were living and working in Paris at the same time as Picasso, Modigliani and Chagall. In the early 1920s they were joined by Oleksa Hryshchenko (Alexis Gritchenko), Mykhailo Andriienko, Vasyl Khmeliuk, and many others. Some of these artists achieved fame, others are long since forgotten. The book also tells about Ukrainian events that unfolded in the French capital between 1900-1939. The book's Appendix includes a list of over 250 Ukrainian artists in Paris as well as a chronology of Ukrainian events in Paris.

The phenomenon of the Ukrainian avant-garde was first revealed to the Western world in 1973 at the "Tatlin's dream" London exhibition where for the first time, world-class paintings by little known Ukrainian avant-garde artists Vasyl Yermylov and Oleksandr Bohomazov were exhibited. This famous show raised awareness also of other world-famous masters who, by origin, upbringing, self identification, and national traditions were associated with Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, and Odesa. Serhiy Zhadan's new book, "Vyshyvanyi. The King of Ukraine", is a story that is always relevant, especially nowadays. It is a story of love for Ukraine. Austrian Archduke Wilhelm Franz von Habsburg-Lothringen, known as Vasyl Vyshyvanyi, played a prominent role in the Ukrainian national liberation movement. Zhadan speaks about the project: "The figure of Vyshyvany is non-trivial, interesting, and deserves all kinds of mentions and study. The coming of Vyshivany to Ukrainianness and acceptance of his identity is not a fictional story.
