        Armonia, ordine, bellezza del paesaggio, qualità del vino, che nel caso del Primitivo si aggiungono ad un termine irrinunciabile: tradizione. Se il vino nasce dalla composizione delle vigne, dobbiamo considerare che i cambiamenti nell’ambito produttivo viticolo sono per natura lenti, legati al fatto che trentennale è la normale vita di un impianto. I trent’anni poi sono il seguito della tradizione mitigata da ponderata innovazione. Chi scelse il nome del Primitivo? La memoria, che è storia ed è anche leggenda, ci racconta di un religioso, appassionato di botanica, don Francesco Filippo Indellicati, di Gioia del Colle, la città pugliese a metà strada dallo Jonio all’Adriatico. Sul finire del Settecento individuò il vitigno, oggetto di scambio con la costa orientale adriatica, confacente alla sua idea di rinnovamento viticolo. Un vitigno che fruttificava presto, primo a maturare. Nel 2000 Antonio Calò individuò il felice futuro del Primitivo, qualità emergente fra i rossi, accanto al Negroamaro, al Nero d’Avola e a pochi altri. Aveva ragione.
