Pinter & Martin Publishers
Pinter & Martin is an independent publishing company based in London. Most of our books are distributed worldwide. We publish authors who challenge the status quo. We specialise in pregnancy, birth & parenting, health & nutrition, psychology and yoga. Pinter & Martin was founded on May 9th, 1997 by the writer and film-maker Martin Wagner and childbirth educator Maria Pinter, when we realised that Stanley Milgram's extraordinary book Obedience to Authority was out of print in the UK. Some milestones were the publication of Childbirth without Fear in 2004, which started our ever-growing pregnancy, birth & parenting list; Irrationality in 2007, which was our first genuine bestseller; and the publication of The Politics of Breastfeeding in 2009, followed by our first book for La Leche League International, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding in 2010. In 2015 Pinter & Martin acquired the yoga publisher YogaWords, which was originally a joint venture by Paul Walker (1961-2016) of YogaMatters and Martin Wagner. In April 2016 Pinter & Martin opened effraspace a multi-purpose venue dedicated to pregnancy, birth & parenting education. In 2017 we published the bestselling The Positive Birth Book and Manhood, followed by Womanhood in 2019. We continue to publish books which are close to our hearts. Forests and Landscapes
Linking Ecology, Sustainability and Aesthetics
by Edited by Eric Wajnberg, John K Scott, Paul C Quimby
Forests are an important component in the visual appeal of landscapes. There is an increasing recognition of the importance of this subject among foresters and environmental scientists. Increasingly, forest resource managers must consider both the aesthetic consequences of timber harvesting operations and management plans and public perceptions of the sustainability of forest eco-system management.Written by world class authorities this book is the first to address this subject area. It consists of 17 chapters and is divided into six parts. The interdisciplinary nature of the book brings together not only foresters and ecologists, but also landscape architects, psychologists and philosophers. Contributors are leading research workers in their subjects, from Canada, the USA and UK.

Evaluating Indirect Ecological Effects of Biological Control
by Edited by Eric Wajnberg, John K Scott, Paul C Quimby
A major concern for biological control has always been the risk of indirect unwanted effects on the ecology of other organisms. Our understanding of the ecological and evolutionary processes underlying these effects has until now been limited and experimental methods sometimes lacking. This book presents the key papers from of the first International Organisation for Biological Control global symposium, held in Montpellier, France, in October 1999. It addresses the issues and concerns involved in biological control, and assesses the current status of evaluation of the ecological effects.

Women, the arts and globalization
Eccentric experience
by Marsha Meskimmon, Amelia Jones, Dorothy C. Rowe, Dorothy Rowe, Marsha Meskimmon
Women, the arts and globalization: Eccentric experience is the first anthology to bring transnational feminist theory and criticism together with women's art practices to discuss the connections between aesthetics, gender and identity in a global world. The essays in Women, the Arts and Globalization demonstrate that women in the arts are rarely positioned at the centre of the art market, and the movement of women globally (as travelers or migrants, empowered artists/scholars or exiled practitioners), rarely corresponds with the dominant models of global exchange. Rather, contemporary women's art practices provide a fascinating instance of women's eccentric experiences of the myriad effects of globalization. Bringing scholarly essays on gender, art and globalization together with interviews and autobiographical accounts of personal experiences, the diversity of the book is relevant to artists, art historians, feminist theorists and humanities scholars interested in the impact of globalization on culture in the broadest sense. ;

Invertebrates as Webmasters in Ecosystems
by Edited by David C Coleman, Paul F Hendrix
The purpose of this book is to review and assess our current understanding of invertebrates in terrestrial and terrestrially-dominated (i.e. lower-order stream) ecosystems. It emphasises the centrality of the activity of invertebrates, which influence ecosystem function far out of proportion to their physical mass in a wide range of situations, particularly at the interface between land and air (litter/soil), water and land (sediments) and in tree canopies and root/soil systems. Consisting of 16 chapters by authors from the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia, the book is essential reading for ecologists and invertebrate biologists.

Das Antlitz des Friedens. Le Visage de la Paix
by Paul Eluard, Pablo Picasso, Herma C. Goeppert-Frank, Sebastian Goeppert, Pablo Picasso, Herma C. Goeppert-Frank, Sebastian Goeppert

by Pierre Bourdieu, Bernd Schwibs
