        At Malinc Publishing House we have been publishing quality children's literature since 2012 and have strived for bigger literary diversity throughout. We are concentrated on publishing authors from the Spanish speaking countries and minority literatures' representatives connected with the Spanish culture such as Basque, Catalan and Galician writers. Books of less known literatures from Europe and elsewhere have also been published by Malinc Publishing House. Through the reading promotion projects we put academic knowledge into practice. Besides, we carry out courses for the mentors of reading and organize literary readings and visits of foreign authors. It is in this way that we raise general reading literacy, intercultural and linguistic competences and include vulnerable groups, especially people with dyslexia.

        Alejandro Amenábar

        by Barry Jordan, Nuria Triana-Toribio, Andy Willis

        Since the release of his first feature (Tesis) in 1996, Alejandro Amenábar has become the 'golden boy' of Spanish filmmaking, its 'King Midas', - a bankable star director - whose brand virtually guarantees quality, big audiences and domestic box office success. He has directed three of the biggest grossing movies in Spanish film history and has enjoyed enormous international and critical acclaim (including an Oscar for Best Foreign Film for Mar Adentro/The Sea Inside, 2004). With Alejandro Amenábar, Jordan provides the first full-length study in English of Amenábar's shorts and feature films. Known for his spectacular imagery, sophisticated editing, memorable sound-tracks and challenging subject matter, Jordan shows how Amenábar makes a serious and socially aware, exportable 'middlebrow' cinema, designed for global audiences. There is also a detailed analysis of his engagement with popular film genres as the basis for an auteur cinema, and Jordan incorporates a reappraisal of Amenábar's auteurism as fundamentally decentred and shared. The book will be an essential resource for teachers, students, scholars and fans of Amenábar. It will also appeal to a wider readership, such as those who work in the film, media and culture industries as well as those who have a general interest in the best of Spanish, European and World cinema. ;

        Civil war London

        Mobilizing for parliament, 1641–5

        by Jordan S. Downs

        This book looks at London's provision of financial and military support for parliament's war against King Charles I. It explores for the first time a series of episodic, circumstantial and unique mobilisations that spanned from late 1641 to early 1645 and which ultimately led to the establishment of the New Model Army. Based on research from two-dozen archives, Civil war London charts the successes and failures of efforts to move London's vast resources and in the process poses a number of challenges to longstanding notions about the capital's 'parliamentarian' makeup. It reveals interactions between London's Corporation, parochial communities and livery companies, between preachers and parishioners and between agitators, propagandists and common people. Within these tangled webs of political engagement reside the untold stories of the movement of money and men, but also of parliament's eventual success in the English Civil War.

        Amerika

        Ein Porträt in Porträts

        by Jordan Mejias, Wolfgang Wesener, Abe Frajndlich, Volker Heinze, Christin Losta, Thomas Rabsch

        Amerika, das Land der unbegrenzten Möglichkeiten, ist auch das Land, »wo sich das Massenvergnügen gern mit der Legende paart«. Jordan Mejias ist in seinen eigenwilligen Porträts berühmter und weniger berühmter Amerikaner den Legenden wie den Menschen auf der Spur: zum Beispiel Roy Cooper, dem Cowboy und mehrmaligen Rodeoweltmeister, einem amerikanischen Traum(mann), oder Shirley MacLaine, der lieb-lasziven Hübschen mit dem lustigen Gesicht, die später die komisch-traurige Alte an der Seite älterer Herrn spielte.
