        Die Unermesslichkeit

        by David Vann, Miriam Mandelkow

        Gary und Irene wollen sich ein letztes Mal zusammenraufen, ihre verkorkste Ehe retten, nicht jeder für sich zugrunde gehen. Gary hatte einst einen Traum: Sie lebten in einer einfachen Holzhütte auf Caribou Island, einer kleinen Insel vor Alaska, sie waren glücklich, die Schrecken der Vergangenheit hatten sie hinter sich gelassen. Während eines Unwetters machen sie sich auf den Weg. Schon kurz nach ihrer Ankunft packt Irene die Angst. Sie sind schlecht vorbereitet, um sie herum ragt die Wildnis, gewaltig, unbarmherzig und von undurchdringlicher Schönheit. Als der Winter kommt, treibt die Einsamkeit der Insel das Paar immer weiter auseinander, Beklemmung stürzt um in Wut. Auch ihre Tochter Rhoda, die mit ihrem eigenen Leben, ihrer eigenen Beziehung alle Hände voll zu tun hat, vermag die beiden nicht zu beruhigen. Hingebungsvoll, aber hilflos muss sie vom Festland aus zusehen, wie ihre Eltern sich langsam, aber sicher zerfleischen. 'Die Unermesslichkeit' erzählt eine dunkle, wahrhaftige Geschichte von den Kämpfen zwischen Mann und Frau – ein packendes Meisterwerk über die letzte Gewissheit, dass wir uns selbst nicht entrinnen können.

        by Tankred Dorst, Ursula Ehler

        "Das neue Stück von Tankred Dorst handelt an einem Ort, der in der zeitgenössischen Dramatik so gut wie nicht vorkommt: die deutsch-deutsche Grenze, irgendwo im Thüringer Wald. Dorothea, eine alte verarmte Unternehmergattin; ihre Söhne Tilmann und Heinrich; Tilmanns Verlobte Irene sowie Klara, eine schwerhörige, pensionierte Lehrerin - sie haben einen Berg an der Grenze bestiegen mit der Absicht, am Abend ein Feuer anzuzünden, das den Menschen jenseits der Grenze ein Zeichen geben soll."

        by Maria M. Delgado, P. P. Heritage

        In 1994 the Arts Council of Great Britain brought together a number of theatre directors as part of the City of Drama celebrations. This is a collection of interviews and discussions with directors who have helped shape the development of theatre in the last 20 years. They include Peter Brook, Peter Stein, Augusto Boal, Jorge Lavelli, Lluis Pasqual, Lev Dodin, Maria Irene Fornes, Jonathan Miller, Jatinder Verma, Peter Sellars, Declan Donnellan, Ariane Mnouchkine, Ion Caramitru, Yukio Ninagawa and Robert Wilson. In addition to the art and craft of directing, there are discussions on multiculturalism; the "classical" repertoire; theatre companies and institutions; working in a foreign language; opera; Shakespeare; new technologies; the art of acting; design; international festivals; politics and aesthetics; the audience; and theatre and society. Finally, there is an epilogue by Peter Brook, Jonathan Miller and Oliver Sacks. ;
