The Publishing House and its History Established in St. Petersburg in 1792, today Gerstenberg is one of Germany’s oldest publishing houses. A family business, the publishing house moved to new headquarters in Hildesheim in 1796 and to this day occupies the same address in the old city marketplace as it did then. The most important branch of the publishing business, however, was the Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung, which, incidentally, is the oldest daily newspaper still in existence in Germany. Today, the name of Gerstenberg is synonymous with delightful, innovative books of aesthetic design and high-quality content for children and young adults that compete very successfully also on the international market. An adult range comprising illustrated books, non-fiction and cookery books also forms part of the Gerstenberg portfolio.   Program Gerstenberg publishes board picture books, picture books, children’s and young adult narrative literature and non-fiction. With Eric Carle’s »The Very Hungry Caterpillar« (»Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt«) and Rotraut Susanne Berner’s ›discovery picture books‹ (›Wimmelbücher‹), Gerstenberg became one of the best-known children’s book publishers. In 1999, the anthology of poetry »Dunkel war’s, der Mond schien helle«, came out as the first in Gerstenberg’s series of household compendiums, a segment that has since developed into a main pillar of the program. The publishing house has brought out some highly respected developments of its own in the children’s knowledge-book series ›Abenteuer! Maja Nielsen erzählt‹.

        WUESTEN - Lebensraum der Extreme

        by Markus Eisl, Gerald Mansberger

The satellite image book WÜSTEN – Lebensraum der Extreme from the series Human Footprint covers a theme that does not seem to be related to the Human Footprint. Nevertheless, during millennia of history humans have developed a wealth of different relations to deserts, despite natural limitations from the lack of water and from extreme temperatures. Deserts are places without liquid water and by that extremely hostile to life. Yet this hostile character has contributed to the fascination exerted by these harsh landscapes over people. The presentation of deserts in this book starts with examples of natural landscapes from the Sahara to the polar desert of Antarctica. Structures such as wadis, yardangs, and sand dunes reflect the forces of water and wind, by which they were formed. The next section highlights margins of deserts and oases, which up to now are of vital importance also for man.

        AstronEffizienzOnomie

Die Formeln des Universums als Lösung für mehr Effizienz

        by Helmut Rasch (Albert Bright)

World-wide-wealth and sustainability via astronomy laws for economic, sociological, ecological and sustainability solutions. We use astronomy rules to optimize (world) economic cycles (as counterpart to the first "physiocrat" and "cycle"-economist ever: Francois Quesnay (doctor), who used blood cycles to explain economic-cycles). My invention of the time formula was the breakthrough to a new "world" - also in the universe; my space formula invention based on it, led to the verification of the time and space formula itself. This was the final breakthrough against the established status quo regarding the - from now on - "obsolete" formula-fix-multipliers; the correlation of space and time (similar to Isaac Newton's correlation between gravity and centrifugal force) led to new "dimensional thinking"; the invention and relativization of "dark matter"(-formula) and "dark energy"(-formula) clarified the "remaining" 95% of the secrets of the universe (Einstein's focus on matter and its "environment" (energy, gravity, . ...) explain only 5% of the universe); Also my invention of a new formula for the universe, the "Dynamic Relativity", relativizes the previously valid formulas of Albert Einstein. The application of the laws of astronomy to economics, sociology, ecology and sustainability relativizes the current approaches in these areas (optimizations are, among others, the approaches of Maslow's pyramid of needs - and up to the approaches of the 17 SDG's "Sustainable Development Goals" of the UN "United Nations" - the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations). All formulas and models have been classified and deposited for use as "scientific reference books" with the British Library and VG-WORT (Patent Office sub-organisation) - as well as submitted to the Nobel Prize Committees. All the theories are well suited to solving the most acute challenges regarding lack of demand; bad banks; speculative bubbles; debt bubbles; money, currency and interest rate bubbles; trade restrictions; (trade) wars; sustainability issues; Industry 4.0 - the employment problem of replacing jobs with machines; developing countries & poverty diabolical circles; and demographic change. The first German books are: (1.) AstronZeitOnomie, ISBN 978-3-7439-0186-5 with, among other things, the invented time formula, a new economic system, as well as an optimized asset/income system (LAZEB: Life-Work-TimeUnit-BONUS - based on the birth-life-energy of the stars) and a better currency system (TEMPUS - based on LAZEB); (2. ) AstronRaumOnomy, ISBN 978-3-7497-1696-8 with the invented space and "dark matter" formulas, and a better peace and liberty system; and (3.) AstronEfficiencyOnomy, ISBN 978-3-7497-9467-6 with the invented formulas of "Dynamic Relativity" and "Dark Energy", and a strong focus on efficiency aspects in astronomy and economics, which also serve peace and sustainability. Plant oils

Over 50 powerful helpers for pleasure and skin care

        by Ruth von Braunschweig

The importance of vegetable oils for our diet is now well known. Also that they must be natural and carefully manufactured and should come if possible from biological cultivation, if they are to unfold their health-promoting effects, is today most humans well-known. But the fact that olive oil, coconut oil & Co. are also valuable helpers for skin care and can even be used in skin care is still doubted by some experts. Today an abundance of research work speaks for itself. Plant oils protect and care for the skin, can prevent diseases and alleviate discomfort. They work from the inside as well as from the outside, in the kitchen as well as in body care. Vegetable oil is good for our skin According to the latest scientific findings, it has been proven that the ingredients of vegetable oils are also helpful for our largest organ: the skin. Not only that the fat molecules have been "known" to the skin evolutionarily for millions of years and it can therefore metabolize them excellently. The skin can therefore utilize plant oils in its metabolism and absorb and use the ingredients.

        Ich habe Licht gebracht!

        Louise Otto-Peters, eine deutsche Revolutionärin

        by Zimmer, Anja

"I have brought light", cries five-year-old Louise Otto when she is allowed to light one of the new sulphur woods for the first time."Bringing light" - This resolution runs like a red thread through Louise's life. At a time when bourgeois girls are not even allowed to leave the house alone, Louise travels Germany all by herself. And although it is strictly forbidden to even mention grievances, Louise's political poems, articles and novels repeatedly highlight the appalling living conditions of the industrial proletariat, focusing on the rightsless female workers. And she realises that there can be no social justice without equality between men and women. She demands - almost painfully topical - equal pay and the right to work for all women. Great hope for change is finally brought by the revolution that begins in March 1848. Louise and her like-minded friends already believe they have achieved their goals when a National Assembly is set up in Frankfurt's Paulskirche. In order to create a network of solidarity for women in this atmosphere of new beginnings, Louise founds Germany's first women's newspaper. She finds a supporter in the young revolutionary August Peters, with whom she soon has more than one friendship. But the counter-revolution is not long in coming: when the Dresden May Uprising is bloodily crushed, Louise is subjected to spying and interrogation. Her world is completely darkened when she learns that August Peter is a prisoner of the Prussian army ... Anja Zimmer describes the life of the writer and co-founder of the German women's movement Louise Otto-Peters (1819-1895) in an exciting novel and shows that many of Louise's demands have lost none of their topicality.

        The Taxidermist

        by Andreas Wagner

When taxidermist Felicitas Booth discovers a box of her father's memorabilia, her world begins to crumble. Wasn't he just the innocent victim of a murder she thought he was for decades? What happened on that Africa expedition where only half the participants survived? Felicitas decides to find out the truth, without knowing that her undertaking could have serious consequences for her  own life. Andreas Wagner – born in Mainz, winegrower, historian and author – succeeded in creating a novel, that is so diverse and multi-faceted that it resists any classification. What begins as a carefully told and touchingly cozy story drastically changes into a genuine investigative thriller. Throughout the novel, the narrator recalls memory fragments which capture the experiences of Felicitas' father in Africa. Caught up in a dangerous maelstrom of events, the protagonist Felicitas has to wrestle with these memories of her childhood and demons of her past. Wagner manages in a remarkable way to awaken a fascination for the processes and effects of taxidermy and to provide insights into a profession that tries to demistify death. The initial unease the reader perceives from the protagonist’s profession and family history develops into a dynamic and gripping plot – and a fascinating novel.
