View Rights PortalThe exciting texts and reports by professing Christians offer a fresh perspective for all those who have cultivated a Christian spirituality for many years. However, the book also provides easy access for those who are newly interested in the Christian faith. There are probably as many professions of Christian faith as there are believers in the world. But what do Christians think and how have they been moulded? Elisabeth Zoll and Thomas Seiterich have compiled very personal ideas about the Christian faith in this book. When selecting the contributors, the editors deliberately chose not to include people with church offices or specialised theologians. Irrespective of church policy issues and church scandals, the contributors have provided insights into their path to faith.
This volume is the first ever attempt to unite and translate some of the key texts which informed Johan Huizinga's famous study of the Burgundian court, The Waning of the Middle Ages, a work which has never gone out of print. It combines these texts with sources that Huizinga did not consider, those that illuminate the wider civic world that the Burgundian court inhabited and the dynamic interaction between court and city. Through these sources, and an introduction offering new perspectives on recent historiography, the book tests whether Huizinga's controversial vision of the period still stands. Covering subjects including ceremonial events, such as the spectacles and gargantuan banquets that made the Burgundian dukes the talk of Europe, the workings of the court, and jousting, archery and rhetoric competitions, the book will appeal to students of late medieval and early modern Europe and to those with wider interests in court culture, ritual and ceremony.

April 1951 in Cambridge.
Tattoos in crime and detective narratives examines representations of the tattoo and tattooing in literature, television and film, from two periods of tattoo renaissance (1851-1914, and c1955 to present). It makes an original contribution to understandings of crime and detective genre and the ways in which tattoos act as a mimetic device that marks and remarks these narratives in complex ways. With a focus on tattooing as a bodily narrative, the book incorporates the critical perspectives of posthumanism, spatiality, postcolonialism, embodiment and gender studies. The grouped essays examine the first tattoo renaissance, the rebirth of the tattoo in contemporary culture through literature, children's literature, film and television. The collection has a broad appeal, and will be of interest to all literature and media scholars, but in particular those with an interest in crime and detective narratives and skin studies.
Communitybased nursing is diverse and complex. This textbook describes the roles of nursing professionals in a practiceoriented manner, taking into account tasks and processes for their further development. The authors clarify which concepts support nurses in dealing professionally with existential fears and selfcare. They integrate approaches of caring communities, neighborhoodbased health counseling, and disaster nursing into nursing work; and they describe nursing interventions in ambulatory care.
Today, we live in a new, anthropogenic environment that differs signifcantly from the environments to which we have adapted in the course of our evolution. This has signifcant effects on us humans, our health, and our social interaction. But how does the complex interaction between humans and the environment work from an evolutionary perspective? How does evolution affect our biology and behavior? What role do genetic and epigenetic aspects play here? And what inflence does this have on the development of diseases such as diabetes mellitus type 2, cardiovascular diseases, allergies, autoimmune diseases or mental disorders? The book attempts to provide answers to these complex questions and allows an exciting evolutionary view of our future with new approaches for individual lifestyle opportunities, but also for future public health measures.
