Wie hieß dein opa?
by Elisabetta Gelli

A Journey to Discover Agricultural Biodiversity
by Marco Boscolo, Elisabetta Tola
In the early 20th century, the Russian geneticist Nikolaj Vavilov travelled halfway round the world and studied methods to produce new varieties of plants which would yield more and be adapted to the different climates in the Soviet Union. In a veritable on-the-road story which goes back over some of the stages of Vavilov’s journey, Marco Boscolo and Elisabetta Tola introduce us to the ‘guardians’ of agricultural biodiversity who have learned his lesson: researchers, farmers and new artisans who are innovating farming by recovering local varieties and seeds that risk disappearing, replaced by industrial products that are the same all over the world but not very adapted to meeting the effects of climate change. There is no trace of nostalgia in this journey, but a new idea of innovation fuelled by a global network – Senegal, Ethiopia, Iran, Indonesia, France, United States and Italy – which is offering models of production and different supply chains to guarantee, following in Vavilov’s footsteps, that despite the climate upheavals that we will have to face, nobody must suffer hunger.

Prostitution in Venice in the nineteenth century
Foreign dominations (1797-1866)
by Elisabetta Tiveron
With the fall of the Serenissima (1797) and the French domination, later followed by the Austrian one, the most decadent period of its millenary history began for Venice: between the increasingly evident poverty and the upheaval of the sumptuous social customs that had characterised the city, even in the field of prostitution, the new oppressive climate was perceived with an increase in the rules of behaviour and health and hygiene controls, as well as the purely fiscal management of the wolves. Once the era of the cultured courtesans who had fascinated kings and travellers was over, that of the poor, maltreated and sometimes problematic women, often a step away from criminalisation or expulsion from the city, began. Elisabetta Tiveron, through the stripping of archive documentation, the analysis of the distribution of the houses of tolerance and the judicial events of some prostitutes, reconstructs a still little known area of 19th century Venetian history.

The Merchant of Bullshit
by J.D.B.
A rotting gene has infiltrated mankind’s cognitive process at an advanced level and turned it into gibberish. Moreover, the Dronzyme, an integral part of the Detox Unorthodox advocated by major forces in the Consultancy Sector, actively stimulates the production of this gene via a benign mucous in the larynx. Soon, under the auspices of the Catallus Group, a new language and functionality possesses the mindset, and no one is considered immune. The Capital itself becomes a repository for degenerate ideas and concepts, whose terror becomes flesh with the birth of a quasi-physical oaf. Herein is the awful truth of the Schnimp, and the Corporate Giants now forced to obey its commands... in a unprecedented wave of NONSENSE. The explanation: The Merchant of Bullshit is a satire on the City of London, and its all-pervading, meaningless jargon, part of the global war against intelligence, as documented by someone who worked nights for over 15 years immersed in it. The author: (location unknown) lives in a shed in Myrddin’s Precinct where he communes with drunken spirits and entities, and launches vitriolic assaults against the Satanic Inertias of the Capital, soon to be revisited in The Gnat. A series of endless night-shifts in the Ancient City of London drives him to the terrifying conclusion that its entire existence is a Hoax – a bankrupt Government, media and economy imprisoned in a Tower of Babble. But can a man certified as insane – twice – complete his mission to rescue the intellectual heritage of his Nation? Who knows. For now, he sleeps amid the empty quarts and flasks, waiting to spring forth from his chrysalis...

Twinology
by Marco Zoppas

Tantalum's rule
by Claudio Forti
Una luce penetrante. Un uomo confuso recuperato dalla polizia. E tante, troppe cornacchie.
