        Mit geschlossenen Augen

        Tagebuch

        by Birgit Heiderich

Mit geschlossenen Augen: Tagebuch vom 2.8.1977 bis zum 29.5.1978. Neun Monate.

        Rom

        Ein Reisebegleiter

        by Birgit Haustedt

Wo fuhr Ingeborg Bachmann gern Fahrrad, was inspirierte Alberto Moravia zu seinem ersten Roman?

        by Birgit Haustedt

        Micronutrient Depleters: Acid Blockers

Things to know about medicines and micronutrients

by Uwe Gröber and Prof. Dr. Klaus Kisters

This guide provides patients with important medical information about interactions of their drug products with vitamins and minerals. These interactions are not always listed in the accompanying package inserts. Those who take acid blockers such as omeprazole or pantoprazole may not only develop disorders relating to calcium, magnesium, vitamin D and bone metabolism in the long term, but above all become deficient in vitamin B12. This way, patients can improve their treatment, reduce the side effects of their medication and increase their quality of life!

Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda, or Not the Miracle of Bern

What if everything had been different in German football

        by Jörg Heinrich

“Well, that’s football for you!” – football-related conventional wisdom when there’s nothing left to explain after a lucky win or unlucky defeat. But Jörg Heinrich, the renowned football journalist, is not satisfied with this platitude. “Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda”: in the 25 essays in this ball-smart book, bursting with esprit and wit, Jörg Heinrich addresses questions and topics that have never even been considered before, never mind answered. Such as: “What if Günter Netzer had not come on as a substitute in 1973?”, or “if Birgit Prinz had aimed better in the 1995 World Cup?”. “What if Mario Basler had been a non-smoker in 1999”, or “if SC Freiburg had fired their coach Christian Streich after relegation in 2015?”.

        Intersections

        Women artists/surrealism/modernism

by Series edited by Amelia Jones, Marsha Meskimmon, Patricia Allmer

Featuring new essays by established and emerging scholars, Intersections: Women artists/surrealism/modernism redefines conventional surrealist and modernist canons by focusing critical attention on women artists working in and with surrealism in the context of modernism. In doing so it redefines critical understanding of the complex relations between all three terms. The essays address work produced in a wide variety of international contexts and across several generations of surrealist production by women closely connected to the surrealist movement or more marginally influenced by it. Intersections explores work in a wide range of media, from painting and sculpture to film and fashion, by artists including Susan Hiller, Maya Deren, Birgit Jurgenssen, Aube Elléouët, Dorothea Tanning, Claude Cahun, Elsa Schiaparelli, Joyce Mansour, Leonor Fini, Mimi Parent, Lee Miller, Leonora Carrington, Ithell Colquhoun and Eileen Agar.

        Spitzen

        Gedichte. Fanbook. Hall of Fame

        by Steffen Popp

        Hot metal

        Material culture and tangible labour

by Jesse Stein. Series edited by Bill Sherman, Christopher Breward

The world of work is tightly entwined with the world of things. Hot metal illuminates connections between design, material culture and labour between the 1960s and the 1980s, when the traditional crafts of hot-metal typesetting and letterpress were finally made obsolete with the introduction of computerised technologies. This multidisciplinary history provides an evocative rendering of design culture by exploring an intriguing case: a doggedly traditional Government Printing Office in Australia. It explores the struggles experienced by printers as they engaged in technological retraining, shortly before facing factory closure. Topics explored include spatial memory within oral history, gender-labour tensions, the rise of neoliberalism and the secret making of objects 'on the side'. This book will appeal to researchers in design and social history, labour history, material culture and gender studies. It is an accessible, richly argued text that will benefit students seeking to learn about the nature and erosion of blue-collar work and the history of printing as a craft.

        Poultry Production in Hot Climates

by Edited by Nuhad J Daghir.

The poultry industry continues to expand in the warm regions of the world at a much faster rate than in temperate zones. Not only can it be quickly and easily developed in these hot climates but poultry meat and eggs can serve as important sources of animal protein in those areas of the world that have protein insufficiency. Fully revised and updated, this new edition describes how the detrimental effects of heat stress can be reduced through the manipulation of housing, breeding, nutrition and management, and includes new contributions on controlled-environment housing, waterfowl, and breeding fast-growing broilers.
