      • Bernd Liske

        Bernd Liske, born in 1956, studied mathematics in Chemnitz and is the owner of Liske information management systems. From its founding in 1998 until May 2015, Bernd Liske was a member of the main board of BITKOM, where he worked in the defense, education and knowledge management working groups. In the course of his efforts to deal with the revelations of Edward Snowden in the NSA affair, he was expelled from BITKOM in 2015. From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the board of the Association of Organizations and Information Systems (VOI). Bernd Liske has been dealing with socio-political issues for many years. In his analyzes and concepts, he deals with social, political and economic problems in our society in order to make contributions to maintaining Germany as a business location. His book “PRISM A Lesson for our Democracy”, published in September, grew out of this. The diversity of the topics he deals with as well as the systemic principles used for their treatment can be followed on his homepage at and on his TWITTER channels @BerndLiske, @LiskeAphorismen and @LiskeZitate. He now regards his aphorisms as an open source operating system for the analysis and design of social processes and has been using them successfully for years.

Fest steht auch, daß über diese Abhängigkeit die innenpolitische Entwicklung dort gesteuert, notfalls »korrigiert« werden kann.         Neoliberal precarity, generational dispossession and call centre labour in Portugal

        Since the mid-2000s, the harsh reality of call centre employment for a generation of young workers in Portugal has been impossible to ignore. With its endless rows of small cubicles, where human agents endure repetitive telephone conversations with abusive clients under invasive modes of technological surveillance, discipline and control, call centre work remains a striking symbol of labour precarity, a condition particularly associated with the neoliberal generational disenchantment that 'each generation does better than its predecessor'. This book describes the emergence of a regime of disciplined agency in the Portuguese call centre sector. Examining the ascendancy of call centres as icons of precarity in contemporary Portugal, this book argues that call centre labour constitutes a new form of commodification of the labouring subject. De Matos argues that call centres represent an advanced system of non-manual labour power exploitation, due to the underestimation of human creativity that lies at the centre of the regimented structures of call centre labour. Call centres can only guarantee profit maintenance, de Matos argues, through the commodification of the human agency arising from the operators' moral, relational and social embedded agentive linguistic interventions of creative improvisation, decision-making, problem-solving and ethical evaluation.

Ende der fünfziger, Anfang der sechziger Jahre wurde am Teatro de Arena in São Paulo ein neues Volkstheater-Konzept entwickelt, das alsbald in ganz Lateinamerika von sich reden machte. Dieses Konzept ist eng verbunden mit dem Namen Augusto Boal. In der von ihm gegründeten Theaterschule wurden in Kollektivarbeit Stücke geschrieben und geprobt, die sich an diejenigen richteten, die im Elend lebten. Boal spielte diese Stücke in den Dörfern, vor Analphabeten, in den Slums der Städte. Und er erfand neue Darstellungstechniken, die die Zuschauer aus ihrer passiven Haltung befreiten und sie selber zu Handelnden machten. 1971 wurde Boal verhaftet, in der Untersuchungshaft gefoltert. Nach seiner Entlassung mußte er Brasilien verlassen. Unser Band gibt Einblick in die Arbeit dieses wichtigen »Theatermachers« Lateinamerikas. Er enthält Texte zur Theorie und Praxis, Protokolle, Erfahrungsberichte.

Acht Jahre zuvor, als Offizier an der sowjetisch-finnischen Grenze, hinderte er einen Kameraden nicht daran, sich in den Westen abzusetzen. Von der Familie gutmütig als »das größte Loch im eisernen Vorhang« verspottet, wurde er von der Armee hart bestraft. Seitdem läßt der Gedanke an den Flüchtling Witali nicht mehr los. Und schließlich, unterstützt von der rasant-energischen Jessie, macht er sich auf, um herauszufinden, was aus ihm geworden ist. It substantiates that the co-existence of these competing class fractions with different accumulation strategies has generated hybrid neoliberalism. The book further demonstrates how this new class formation has reorganised the function and operation of state institutions and transformed state ideology.
