Eine junge Frau, Paula Karst, entschließt sich, ihre Heimatstadt Paris zu verlassen und nach Brüssel umzusiedeln: Dort besucht sie die Akademie für angewandte Kunst und lernt, auch die schwierigsten Aspekte der Wirklichkeit mit der Hand täuschend nachzuahmen. Da solche Fähigkeiten in einer Zeit, die sich mit Surrogaten zufriedengibt, en vogue sind, ist sie ständig mit der termingerechten Erfüllung ihrer Aufträge beschäftigt: Mal ist ihre Kunst in Russland gefragt, mal soll sie in Paris die entsprechend luxuriösen Apartments illuminieren, schließlich bricht sie nach Rom auf, in das Reich der Cinecittà, um an der Illusion von Wirklichkeit zu arbeiten. Doch die Serienproduktion von geschäftlichen Erwägungen dienenden Nachahmungen ist ihr nicht Herausforderung genug: Deshalb beschließt sie, sich bei den Nachbildungen der berühmten Höhlen von Lascaux (Entstehungszeit: zwischen 17000 und 15000 v. Chr.) in der Dordogne zu engagieren. Die Aufgabe unterscheidet sich zunächst in nichts von den gängigen, den Effekt der Realität erzeugenden Zeichnungen. Während der Arbeit an der millimetergenauen Rekonstruktion der berühmten Wandmalereien drängen sich ihr allerdings unabweisbare Fragen auf: Kann man als Gegenwartsmensch prähistorische Gemälde reproduzieren, müsste man sich dafür nicht in einen Urzeitmenschen verwandeln? Oder ist umgekehrt die Rettung der Zeichnungen durch Vortäuschung das einzige Gegenmittel zum die (Um-)Welt zerstörenden Lebensstil? Ist eine Welt, die jederzeit und überall zuhanden ist, nicht notwendigerweise dem Untergang geweiht? Gibt es überhaupt noch einen eindeutigen Unterschied zwischen Realität und Nachahmung, zwischen harten Fakten und inszenierten Illusionen, zwischen Nachrichten und fabrizierten Meldungen?

Brief account on organic agriculture movement in the world and its present status and opportunity for organic spices in the world market are given.
