        LA POLÍTICA DEL ODIO

        by HUGO N. GERSTL

        The Animal Mirror

        by Zakarías Zafra

Tapachula, Chiapas: a small city on the southern border of Mexico bearing the weight of a continental migratory crisis. Migrants trapped between bureaucracy, misery, and violence. Tens of thousands of bodies halted in front of the invisible wall of the United States. This book seeks to explore migration from the inside out. Its field of exploration encompasses not only the physical border but also the narrator's personal experience as an immigrant in Mexico. It is a hybrid work that weaves through chronicles, personal essays, autobiography, and travel writing, considering the migratory phenomenon not just as a collapse but as a space for profound subjective elaboration. The story of a religious leader expelled from Angola, the adventures of a former Colombian guerrilla threatened by the dissident factions of the FARC, and the nostalgia of an exiled Sandinista from Daniel Ortega's dictatorship blend in a common chorus with the narrator’s voice, son of a father killed by the Venezuelan state and a mother seeking asylum in Mexico. More than a chronicle, "El espejo animal" seeks to be a spoken portrait of migration in Latin America. It is an artifact that enables and amplifies the voices of migrants where they cannot be heard.

        The Gospel of Prosperity

Literary and critical perspectives about the science of getting right quick

        by Luis Miguel Estrada

In 2020, amidst the whirlwind of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ideas from books about the science of becoming a millionaire returned to Luis Miguel Estrada whom, since he left a financial job, has dedicated himself fully to literature. In this book, he thinks  some of the key questions raised by bestsellers from Napoleon Hill to Kiyosaki. Do we stop seeking money just because we pursue art? More importantly: regardless of what we do, how do we seek money? Why have narratives like positive thinking and the law of attraction become a universal language that gains strength during each economic crisis? Is there a link between bestsellers about the science of getting rich and great universal literature? This book attempts to answer these questions, beginning with the origins of books on becoming a millionaire, which delve into the agile 19th-century United States, transition through the fast-paced turn of the century, and explode in the years after the Great Depression. The journey continues with examples of wild successes (real-life fraudsters like Elizabeth Holmes or fictional criminals like Walter White from Breaking Bad) that prompt us to question the influence of success-at-any-cost ideas on popular culture, as well as their ethical limits. How can one reconcile readings, cultural products, and experiences that seem so distant? The broader reading audience responds more to "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill than to "The Grapes of Wrath" by John Steinbeck. Is there a way to read them alongside each other and emerge renewed from the experience? This book invites you on that adventure.

Del gusano cósmico al cerebro del pulpo

        Ensayos sobre ciencia

        by Juan Carlos Fontecilla Camps

Normative dialectics. A deliberative tribute to the philosophical work of Carlos S. Nino

        by Nicolás E. Olivares

This book supports various readings. On the one hand, it is clear that, after twenty-five years of his physical disappearance, the theorizations of Carlos S. Nino have full validity, because his analysis fills numerous pages of valuable scientific journals. This establishes the common path of a work made by the serious work of a new generation of young Argentine intellectuals. From this celebratory perspective, the goal has been to pay tribute to the epistemic effort of that great Argentine jurist, philosopher and teacher. However, this book also answers to a second perspective of a reflective type. From this critical and creative perspective, it offers to the readers new interpretations, hypotheses, theses and observations of fundamental topics analyzed by C. S. Nino. Finally, from a civic perspective, this work offers quality public arguments for thinking carefully certain problems that are inherent to our current political crisis. Surely, from this third perspective, socially committed, political and republican, an undeniable vocation of service is made explicit for those who see in C. S. Nino a great example of what it means to be a public intellectual.

        by Juan David Enciso

Peace is an idea, an abstract concept, which must be grounded in concrete realities. And building peace involves moving from an initial state, which may or may not be conflict, to a second moment in which people have learned to know, relate, meet, and live together.   This book tries to elaborate on the construction of peace from an educational process, in which individuals learn to recognize themselves as subjects of equal dignity and with the capacity to carry out projects oriented to the common good. Similarly, educational settings, the so-called learning environments, are not confined exclusively to the walls of the classroom or the boundaries of formal education institutions: peace education occurs in any environment in which two or more coincide. people with potential conflicts of interest or collective construction.

Rosalía y el revés de las cosas

by Julia Broguet - Romina Biassoni

Illustrated book that invites to talk about the history of Argentina and rethink the configurations of identity. This book addresses a topic that is usually invisible: the presence and contribution of Afro-descendants in this country. And he does it in a sensitive way, recounting a day in the life of an enslaved girl during the years before the independence of the Spanish colonies in America. But the precision of the historical reference does not prevent this book from reaching a universal dimension. The beautiful illustrations in vibrant colours recover images from the archaeological and historical records in Santa Fe, Argentina (ceramics found in Arroyo Leyes; references to period clothing according to social class; children's games from colonial times; coexistence between enslaved African groups and native populations, etc.). This historical-anthropological reconstruction supports a sensitive story according to the child reader, in which a day in the life of an enslaved girl, Rosalía, is told, without low blows and with a prose full of poetry. The text challenges the reader and, from the display of images and evocations, introduces them to a world that is now far away but with many points of contact. A book to think, to feel and to reflect.

        Reificación mediática

        Cat Power

        La toma de la Tierra

        by Cecilia Palmeiro

Rorro the cat (of extraterrestrial origin) writes about a character named “Godmother,” a shopping center goddess, connoisseur of international lovers, queer militant, and synthetic drug partier who he unscrupulously calls “CONICET Bureaucrat,” and who he outs as a thief, judging himself as the author of the book, Desbunde y felicidad: attributed to the top critic Cecilia Palmeiro. Rorro’s project? Taking over Earth to invent The Clowder Future.  The book’s plot is insane, full of designer orgies, semi-legal trips under the guise of research grants, and hangovers as frequent as the dicks Godmother runs through. But it’s also a radical critique of how humans live, a catty, feminist investigation.  María Moreno

        Una historia en imágenes

        1957 - 1973

        by Aurelio González

        Anthropology of Christian Vocation

        From Person to Person

        by Juan Manuel Cabiedas

The question regarding how to guide one’s own life is among the most pressing and serious questions. Both in its sacred understanding, as referring to a trascendent call, and in its lay conception, that connects the feeling of happiness to one’s self-fulfillment, the word vocation expresses the right way that a person follows to succesfully lead his or her own life. This may be the reason why, when talking about vocation, the word echoes all the elements that make up the identity of the human being: corporeity and spirituality, intelligence and sensitivity, conscience and freedom, personal biography and collective history. Without vocation, the personal being is doomed to treat oneself and to be treated with indifference.

        by Suso Mourelo

At the end of the 20th century, Suso Mourelo, made a hiatus in his activity as a teacher, reporter and scriptwriter to undertake a trip through China that would turn his plans for the future and his life itself upside down. It traveled nearly 15,000 kilometers in all types of transport, reaching Tibetan villages in the eastern mountains, villages of ethnic minorities in the borderlands, places abandoned by development, villages anchored in tradition, and industrial centers and cities in after modernity. http://interfolio.es/Actual/Entradas/2009/10/21_ADIOS_A_CHINA.html An exceptional witness to the moments before the vertiginous change of the Asian giant, the author, thanks to his clear vision of the world and his peculiar way of traveling, draws a portrait of a China that was beginning to be what we know today, at the same time lived a China that will never return. Suso Mourelo is the author of dozens of stories, hundreds of journalistic reports, and several travel books. He has recently published The Western Frontier, The Alphabet of an Immigrant, and The Five Tombs of Genghis Khan.

        Caja continua de voces

        by Pablo Martín Ruiz

Essays, travel journals, reflections, epigrams, visual poetry, lists, notes, paradoxes, compilations, critiques, stories, outlines, translations, palindromes, these are all the bricks with which, in the manner of a certain Chinese encyclopedia, a sort of epistemology of restriction and of the unusual is built. A necklace where no two pearls are alike: the bet, of course, is centered on the thread that ties them together. It gives the impression that the author, owner of a playful, penetrative gaze, is concerned with the poetic dimension of the pure forms of language and that absolutely nothing is alien to him.The result is an absolutely singual, stimulating, and highly entertaining book, which makes us gratefully abandon the place of our comfortable ideas. The Bible, from the Beginning to the End

        A Reading Guide for Today

        by Alberto de Mingo Kaminouchi

No literary work has exerted more influence on Western culture than the Bible. None has been more studied by archaeologists, historians, philologists, anthropologists, philosophers or theologians across the centuries. For anyone interested in this work, true heritage of the world, this book is an indispensable introduction to the main contents and to the discoveries that have been done in recent decades, usually restricted to specialists’ circles. The author offers a vast overview of each one of the books of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Characters, geographical settings, historical events, cultures, literary genres and numberless complementary data help the reader to think about the present in light of a past that has configured the mindset of whole generations. “The author combines a simple, yet rigorous, scientific vision of the problems, with a believing reading and an extraordinary pedagogical ability to reach today’s readers.”
