        Das in diesem Band gesammelte Material betrifft die Tournee Rilkes durch fünf Städte der deutschen Schweiz im Herbst 1919 die erste derartige Unternehmung des Dichters seit 1910 und zugleich die letzte. Die Schweizer Programme lassen sich aus seinen eigenen Angaben wie aus Besprechungen rekonstruieren: Er bot einen Querschnitt durch sein neueres lyrisches Schaffen (ohne das »Stunden-Buch«, ohne die schon vorhandenen »Elegien«), dazu einige Übersetzungen. Prosatexte, die er vortrug, waren das »Ur-Geräusch« (nichts aus dem »Malte«) und improvisierte Berichte seiner Begegnungen mit Tolstoj zum Beispiel oder mit Rodin. Weil diese Berichte schriftlich nicht festgehalten sind, treten in diesem Buch an ihre Stelle zeitlich benachbarte Äußerungen zu den genannten Themen in Briefen u.a.m.

        Die Winterthurer Kaufherren Reinhart spielten im Kunstleben der Schweiz und darüber hinaus eine bedeutende Rolle als Sammler und als Mäzene: Jeder der Brüder war eine unverwechselbare Persönlichkeit, von Rilke als solche erkannt und anerkannt. Das rechtfertigt es, ihre Briefe an den Dichter mit in den vorliegenden Band aufzunehmen - erst im vierfachen Dialog kommt die Spannweite dieser vierfachen Freundschaft ganz zur Geltung, werden manche für das Verständnis von Rilkes Leben und Schreiben keineswegs unwichtigen biographischen Details greifbar.

        Rainer Maria Rilke wurde am 4. Dezember 1875 in Prag geboren. Nach dem Abbruch der Militärschule studierte er Literatur, Kunstgeschichte und Philosophie in Prag, München und Berlin und schrieb Gedichte. Nach einer Liaison mit der verheirateten Lou Andreas-Salomé und heiratete er 1901 Clara Westhoff, die Scheidung folgte schon im folgenden Jahr. Aus Geldnot nahm Rilke Auftragsarbeiten an und reiste 1902 nach Paris, wo das Gedicht Der Panther entstand. Rilke unternahm Reisen nach Nordafrika, Ägypten und Spanien. Rilkes Tagebuchroman Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge wurde 1910 veröffentlicht. 1919 siedelte er in die Schweiz über. In den 1920er Jahren erkrankte er an Leukämie und verstarb schließlich am 29. Dezember 1926 im Sanatorium Valmont bei Montreux in der Schweiz. Rainer Maria Rilke ist einer der bedeutendsten Lyriker deutscher Sprache. Seit dem Jahr 1900 ist er Autor des Insel Verlages, sein Werk wird hier geschlossen betreut.

Many different screens have already seen our footage: from Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) to city buses in Warsaw. With the help of these images, we aim to share the beauty of Ukraine with the world. This photo book shows Ukraine from a bird's eye view. Fields, forests, coasts, snow-capped mountains, patterns of city streets – all these shots show amazing diversity and cause aesthetic awe. Despite the fact that enemy shells are still flying in the Ukrainian sky, we are already trying to make the whole world fall in love with it. The book is published only in English and is called “Ukraine from above”.
