        Coping Better with Cancer Therapy

Improved quality of life with the right vitamins and minerals

by Uwe Gröber and Prof. Dr. Klaus Kisters

Cancer patients often suffer from malnutrition. Not only do they lack energy-providing macronutrients such as protein, fats and carbohydrates, they particularly lack the micronutrients that regulate the metabolism. Micronutrients such as vitamin D, selenium, L-carnitine, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin C significantly contribute to supporting the immune system of cancer patients, reducing inflammatory processes, alleviating the side effects of cancer therapy, and improving their quality of life. This patient guide provides information about the relationship between cancer, malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, the influence of cancer therapeutics on micronutrient balance, and how cancer patients can support their therapy and improve their quality of life with a controlled intake of micronutrient

        by Stefanie Brune

Taking five or more medications – this is part of the daily routine of many, especially elderly people. But polymedication increases the risk of drug-related problems. This is where the pharmaceutical service „Extended medication counselling for polymedication“ comes in. This comprehensive guide shows how to establish and implement such knowledge in the pharmacy: ■ Part A explains the legal and contractual basis of the service. In addition, the publication highlights the risks of polymedication, drug-related problems and goals, and the benefits of the service for the stakeholders involved in the pharmacy, the doctor‘s practice, and for the patients themselves. ■ Part B is dedicated to the organisation in the pharmacy: team preparation, quality management, required documents, consulting and workplaces, and staff qualification. Aspects such as time management, patient recruitment and public liability are also considered. ■ Part C describes the individual process steps flanked by aids such as work tables, checklists, sample texts (for download at www.Online-PlusBase.de) and a comparison table for supporting AMTS software tools, including screenshots. ■ Part D offers case studies, including the initiation of extended medication counselling, the pharmaceutical AMTS review (software-supported), solution paths and communication (including formulation examples) with the various stakeholders involved. Schema Therapy

        by Jacob, Gitta; Arntz, Arnoud

Schema therapy is an important further development of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for patients with personality disorders and other chronic mental health problems. In studies, work with the schema mode approach in particular has been shown to be highly effective. In the updated edition of this book, which in particular also reports current findings on the evidence, treatment with the mode model is presented in a practical manner. Numerous case examples illustrate the therapeutic approach. After an introduction to the core concepts of schema therapy, diagnostic and case conceptualization are addressed. Subsequently, the therapeutic procedure for each mode type is explained. Important emphasis is placed on the therapeutic relationship, which is conceptualized as a limited reparenting, and emotion-focusing techniques, such as chair dialogues and imaginative techniques. In these two respects, schema therapy differs particularly from classical CBT. Typical pitfalls and problems in schema therapy as well as possible variations of the approach are also described. Thus, the book offers a compact presentation of work with the schema approach to personality disorders. For:• psychotherapists• psychiatrists• clinical psychologists• students and teachers in psychotherapeutictraining, furthertraining, and continuing education

This book offers a practical explanation of this evidence-based therapeutic method. Transitional justice in process

        Plans and politics in Tunisia

        by Mariam Salehi

After the fall of the Ben Ali regime in 2011, Tunisia swiftly began dealing with its authoritarian past and initiated a comprehensive transitional justice process, with the Truth and Dignity Commission as its central institution. However, instead of bringing about peace and justice, transitional justice soon became an arena of contention. Through a process lens, the book explores why and how the process evolved, and explains how it relates to the country's political transition. Based on extensive field research in Tunisia and the US, and interviews with a broad range of international stakeholders and decision-makers, this is the first book to comprehensively study the Tunisian transitional justice process. It provides an in-depth analysis of a crucial period, examining the role of justice professionals in different stages, as well as the alliances and frictions between different actor groups that cut across the often-assumed local-international divide.
