Queer cinema in contemporary France
Five directors
by Todd Reeser
Jacques Martineau, Olivier Ducastel, Alain Guiraudie, Sébastien Lifshitz and Céline Sciamma. The films of these five major French directors exemplify queer cinema in the twenty-first century. Comprehensive in scope, Queer cinema in contemporary France traces the development of the meaning of queer across these directors' careers, from their earliest, often unknown films to their later, major films with wide international release. Whether having sex on the beach or kissing in the high school swimming pool, these cinematic characters create or embody forward-looking, open-ended and optimistic forms of queerness and modes of living, loving and desiring. Whether they are white, beur or black, whether they are lesbian, gay, trans* or queer, they open up hetero- and cisnormativity to new ways of being a gendered subject.

Ça va, cher Karl?
Erinnerungen an Karl Lagerfeld
by Sébastien Jondeau

Acht Maximen
by Samuel Beckett, Wolfgang Held, Wolfgang Held

Biological control is an important component of integrated and ecological pest management programmes. Its importance continues to increase as plant protection is challenged with climate change, invasive species, pesticide resistance, de-registration of pesticide active ingredients, and increasing consumer demands for sustainably produced food and fibre. Biological control is highly compatible with organic cropping systems and evolving pest management frameworks, including biovigilance. Canada continues to be a world leader in biological control research, development of biological control policy, and implementation of biological control programmes. This is the sixth volume of a series of books reporting on the status of biological control research and on biological control programmes employed in Canada. This volume features 58 case study chapters that describe the research and progress in implementation of biological control for pests including insects, mites, weeds, and plant pathogens. Topics important to biological control, including policy, emerging technologies, biological control in urban landscapes and future targets for biological control are reviewed. Although the volume focusses on the Canadian biological control experience, the chapters will be of interest to a global audience of researchers and students of biological control, risk assessment, ecology, and pest management. This book Offers a detailed analysis of the state-of-the-art of biological control in Canada. Explains how biological control research is responding to challenges including climate change and invasive alien species. Gives insights in effective risk assessment and pest management. It is a valuable resource for students and researchers of pest management and biological control, and for practitioners and policy-makers needing analysis of the practical implications of using this approach.

Grassland Productivity and Ecosystem Services
by Tony Parsons, Dennis Poppi, Sophie Prache, Andrew W Illius, John McIvor, David Kemp, Sebastien Fontaine, Roland Bol, Stewart F Ledgard, Nina Buchman, Andreas Luescher, Richard McDowell, Luc Abbadie, Phil Grime, Bertrand Dumont, Eric Garnier, Mike Humphreys, Xavier Leroux, Thibaud Decaens, Jean-Louis Peyraud, Greg Lambert, Craig Morris, Herman van Keulen, Alan Franzluebers, Anibal de Moraes Robert Ferrier, Gerard Balent. Edited by Gilles Lemaire, John Hodgson, Abad Chabbi.
Grassland ecosystems are deeply affected by human activities and need appropriate management to optimise trade-offs between ecosystem functions and services. Until now they have mainly been analysed as agro-ecosystems for animal production but this book looks beyond the role of grassland as a feeding ground, and evaluates other important processes such as carbon sequestration in soils, greenhouse gas regulation and biodiversity protection. This authoritative volume expertly highlights the need for an immediate balance between agriculture and ecological management for sustainability in the future.
