        Reflexion und kommunikative Erfahrung

Untersuchungen zur Stellung philosophischer Reflexion zwischen Theorie und Kritik

        by Wolfgang Kuhlmann

        by Georg Krücken, Wolfgang Krohn

        Aquila

        by Poznanski, Ursula

"LAST CHANCE." Nika looks in the mirror one Sunday morning, feeling rather hungover, to see this message daubed on the glass. Who wrote it? And what does it mean? Where are Nika’s house keys and her phone? Where’s Jenny, her flatmate? And why does she feel so terrible this morning – surely she didn’t have that much to drink last night? It’s only when she turns on the TV and sees the morning news that Nika realises it’s not Sunday at all – it’s Tuesday. Two whole days have gone by, and she has no memory of them. During those two days something terrible must have happened. But what? With Aquila, Ursula Poznanski has produced a true psychological thriller. She tells the story almost entirely in reverse, keeping the reader on tenterhooks until the very last page. Not until the shocking twist at the end of the book do we find out what really happened to Nika during those two lost days.

        The City of Melancholy

        by Zhang Min

The novel has discussed the inherent complexity of human emotions. Yi Hong, a successful woman with perfect career and family, commits suicide for no reason, and she is also both the unforgettable first love and ex-fiancee of the protagonist. Driven by a series of suspense, the career development and emotional experience of the protagonist have gradually surfaced along with the rapid urbanization process since the beginning of 20th century and the restless desire in human life. Taking an objective perspective, the novel has depicted the intricate secular life and exposed the nature of emotions by taking away the excessive covers over life: in the end, the lost love, the possession and loss in life as well as the tangled cause-and-effect transmigration are a mirror that the middle-aged who are tempted by reality and desire fear to look into.

        Cryptos

        by Poznanski, Ursula

Where do we go when Nowhere is the only destination left?   Kerrybrook is Jana‘s favourite virtual escape. An idyllic fishing village with beautiful nature and, every now and then, a breeze of fresh air from the nearby sea. Jana, is this world‘s designer and person in power, she’s satisfied with her masterpiece. Best job so far. Until one day, a dead body is found, in both, ’Virtual Reality‘ and the real world. In times of climate change, VR is the only safe place for humankind. That‘s why Jana needs to solve the crime, she’s responsible for stopping the destruction.   • CliFi Thriller (Climate Fiction): Climate change & virtual reality • For fans of Black Mirror (Netflix) • All age readers • Strong, female protagonist • Highly relevant topic   WHITE RAVENS recommendation (2021):   "In the not too distant future, the world is an inhospitable place: droughts, storms, floods. That’s why world designers construct »alternative realities«, such as landscapes populated by dinosaurs, life at court in the Middle Ages, and surfing and chilling out on a beach. People can switch between these worlds at will and, when they die there, they are not truly dead; instead, they merely return to the »real world« – same as at night when they sleep. Then they are reunited with their body, which is lying inside a capsule.   In »Cryptos«, Ursula Poznanski pulls out all the stops of storytelling: She embeds numerous references to human and intellectual history in an action-packed and extremely suspenseful thriller plot. In the process, she raises central existential and ontological questions that result from the interplay between the real and the virtual worlds. This complex dystopian novel is narrated in such an enjoyable way that readers will hardly notice their brains going into overdrive as they devour it."

        THE POET OF MIRRORS

        Bee’del of Delhi

        by Vraje Abrahim

Mirza Abdolqader Azimabadi—penname “Bee’del”— was born in Putna, India in 1644 CE and died in Delhi in 1721. He spoke Bengali, wrote poetry in Persian (Farsi), and was familiar with Arabic, Urdu, Bengali and Sanskrit. One of the most prolific and regarded poets of his day, his style is considered the glory of Persian poetry of Central Asian/Indian origin. Among many ethnic groups outside the present borders of Iran, whose culture/mysticism and literature is influenced by the Iranian culture and language, Bee’del is classified alongside Ha’fez—an honor conferred on very few. As he became familiar with the teachings of the Sufis, he continued to frequent their gatherings throughout life. Their literature influenced both his work and his growing involvement in things of the spirit. Bee’del’s relevance to our times is obvious—his message is informed by a universal regard for the inner life and potential of humans, regardless of geography, ethnicity or religion. As a Sufi poet, Bee’del urges us to attend to our most important task—experiencing, as opposed to reading/hearing about, one’s inner Origin/Essence—and thus realize the true purpose of our existence.
