        Picasso geht spazieren

Eine poetische Hommage. Gedichte und Bilder

by Pablo Picasso, Joachim Rönneper, Pablo Picasso

Buddhismus in China heute

        by Hans-Wilm Schütte

The image of Buddhism in Western cultures is mainly influenced by Tibetan, Southeast Asian and Japanese Zen Buddhism. China, the country with the most Buddhists and the largest monasteries, plays hardly any role. However, Chinese Buddhism has developed extremely dynamically since the Mao era. In contrast to the restrictive religious policies of the central government, Buddhist construction projects often find support from the local administration and financially strong entrepreneurs. Pilgrimages make the holy sites an important tourism factor and contribute significantly to the local economy. At best, monks and nuns there may dream of Nirvana; popular belief is more about material values.
