        by Lisa Yang

Advanced Reading Strategies is a four-volume series that aims to improve students’ reading abilities using practical strategies. Each volume corresponds to a level of CEFR—Book 1: Literal (A2), book 2: Inferential (B1), book 3: Evaluative (B2), and book 4: Applied (C1). Advanced Reading Strategies contains a wide range of interesting themes, such as traveling, culture, modern technology, animals, and art. This series also features a variety of reading text forms, including articles, stories, recipes, jokes, online reviews, poems, and more. The intriguing and diverse content not only helps get students’ attention but also allows them to approach reading in a fun way. The sections within a unit are organized systematically to develop students’ reading fluency. After the main reading passage, a number of reading comprehension questions are offered to measure students’ understanding of the text. The vocabulary section follows to enhance students’ reading comprehension. Then, a brief explanation of the targeted reading skill and its relevant exercise help students apply the strategy to read effectively. After achieving reading fluency, another section is offered to bring students to a higher language proficiency. The writing exercises allow students to research, integrate information, and put their thoughts into words. With a variety of practical content and systematic learning, there’s no doubt that students will improve their reading ability with the series.
