When daughters write to their mothers

        by Wiebke Dierks

20 courageous women with life stories that could not be more different write honest letters to their mothers. The daughters tell how they grew up, how their mothers shaped them, what surprised, moved, disappointed or alienated them in the relationship. These 20 inspiring women, some of them prominent figures, are active in various areas of society and draw attention to grievances through their work. In this book, they explore their upbringing, origins and relationship with their mother with a view to their current work, because the question remains exciting: How did they become the strong women they are today? With a scientific classification of the mother-daughter relationship, the editor places the individual life stories of the women in a social context and shows how important the activist commitment of these women is for us and our society. With contributions by Sara Nuru, Luisa Neubauer, Nazan Eckez, Ricarda Lang, Birgit Lohmeyer, Valerie Schönian, Luisa L‘Audace, Serpil Unver and many more.
