        Verkantung der Realzeitachse

        by Boden, Roland

"Tilting of the real time axis. Remarks on the reversibility of the uncertain" is set apart from the artistic work that can be expected: Boden, with his scientific training, creates parallel worlds in which he takes urban planning, social and historical situations as the starting point for his research and questions. Unbelievable but forgotten inventions are brought to light from various archives. Like a person of a different faith who rings our doorbell unprepared, Boden convinces us of his results and leaves us alone with last doubts, which he juggles back and forth before our eyes with irony and humour. Based on real circumstances, such as known places or situations, Roland Boden assembles detailed inventions and imaginary familiarities, but also meticulously researched material to feed his "research" with the necessary content. In various real archives he finds evidence to back up his incredible discoveries, which are compiled in this book project. The artistic work is so precisely translated into the book form here that one cannot imagine any other implementation. It is the ideal form for Roland Boden's nostalgic stories, because such assertions have their home in books. The publication is rich in detail and designed with the same scientific implicitness: Linen binding, foil embossing, chapter volume and classic working paper give the book bibliophilic value.

Notizen von der Peripherie eines Belagerungszustands

        by Spehr, Johannes

Johannes Spehr's publication "Notizen von der Peripherie eines Belagerungszustands" ("Notes from the Periphery of a State of Siege") compiles a series of picture stories executed in pencil, which tell of social coldness and human degeneration with impressive graphic delicacy and attention to detail. Dense narrative sequences are strung together, which at first glance do not show a red thread, but which nevertheless show a dystopian society in a big bracket. Although this publication is to be understood as an artistic work, it is on a par with the major contemporary graphic novels. The beauty of the drawings, executed with great attention to detail, creates a poignant contrast to the subjects depicted. The illustrations in the publication correspond 1:1 to the original drawings.

        Farbe aus und durch

        by Warmuth, Herbert

"It pushes, squeezes through, swells out, gets out. Colour seeks a way into the open. Unexpectedly, it breaks through the painted surface, which is immobilised behind Plexiglas, rises above the surface and exceeds the dimension that holds it captive. It reveals itself as a material whose potential has not yet unfolded. Paradoxically, it congeals into an event waiting to be formulated. (...) Once released, it could test various manifestations of itself, expand all over the surface, appear as a pastose trace, mark areas or form patterns." Quote from the accompanying text: Thomas Wagner

        Feuerpferde

        by Sven, Tadic

The horse has a very special meaning in the Chinese lunar calendar. It stands for honesty and skill in dealing with people. Every 60 years is the year of the fire horse, which on the one hand frightens people, because in a fire horse year human relationships are not under a good star. On the other hand it is appreciated, because people who are born in the sign of the fire horse should bring great blessings.

        Spiegel

        by Grenzhaeuser, Nathalie; Völcker, Mathias

"Spiegel" was an exhibition by Nathalie Grenzhaeuser and Mathias Völcker from the series "gemischtes Doppel" of the Oberfinanzdirektion Frankfurt. The title is both the motto and the reflection of their first joint exhibition. (...) "The mirror is a topos. One person recognises himself/herself in the other as the other. Duplication and circulation are the mirror image of the inevitable, because the artist is always fatefully confronted with himself. In the photographs, what is seen becomes a phantasmagorical construction in real time. It is as if, as in Jean Cocteau's work, one would throw oneself into the mirror to discover one's own face in astonishment on the shores of another, distant world. There is a loneliness in the work of both artists that pushes the image into the distance: as if the one appeared in the metamorphosis of a walrus, as if the other were to transform itself from the mist of a fantasy into a (self-referential) animal power. ” (…). Extract from the preface by Jean-Christophe Ammann.
