Witchfield
by Rimensberger, Nicole
Description
Katie Peridot quite likes being ordinary.Unfortunately, some very out-of-the-ordinary things have been happening to her. On top of this her best friend, Mayuri, isn’t her best friend anymore, a sinister sponsorship programme is taking over her school, her mother is acting more crazy than usual and the only person who really seems to understand her is a peculiar cleaning lady. Then she teams up with Themba, the cleverest (and most unpopular) boy at school, and together their investigation takes them deep into the town’s abandoned mine. What they find there is more terrible than they could have imagined. Can they save Witchfield before it’s too late?

Author Biography
Nicole Rimensberger believes very passionately in books and that if there is a kind of magic in the world, then it can be found between the covers of a book. She has been chasing this magic ever since she was little and learned how to read. Over the years she has worked in the monitoring and evaluation of educational projects for NGOs, volunteered for an organisation teaching English to refugees in Durban, South Africa, and, more recently, in academia teaching English in teacher training programmes. Her mission in life is to share the magic of books and get people reading. Her books are fun, adventure-filled stories that hopefully give children that magical experience of getting lost in a book. She has also created "Story-building: An Online Creative Writing Course for Kids" in order to share the fun and excitement you get from making up your own stories. She's a little bit from Switzerland, mostly from South Africa, but currently living in the Netherlands with her husband, two daughters and South African rescue dog. You can find out more about her books and creative writing course on her website www.hellotypewriter.co.za where you can also access some free reader resources and download a book.
