Witch Grandma with Her Salted Fishes
by PENG Xuejun / MA Penghao
Description
It’s heard that a Witch Grandma wearing the black robe is living alone in the mountain near the village. Her temper is very bad and she may strike at those kids she dislikes with her long smoke pole. But most terrifying is that, she could perform her magic to turn the kids into animals or something. All the adults told the kids to leave her far away…. But we can’t do that, instead.
We can’t help visiting her lodge occasionally and secretly, because we know Witch Grandma’s home-made salted fishes are so delicious and tasty. In fact, Witch Grandma is not so fearsome like those adults described. She always shares her fishes with us and takes most care about the youngest girl among us. And she looks us departing away…
In the autumn, we used to seek and collect the fresh fruits and mushrooms in the mountain, then place some at the Grandma’s lodge front door. But someday, we get lost in the woods, a furious wild boar emerges to attack us. Fortunately, Witch Grandma appears …
It’s a thrilling but warm story about the love, friendship, bravery, share and give against the prejudice and rumor.
