Viaje al invierno (Journey to Winter)
by Claudia Solans
Description
Two destinies, that of an old woman and a young one, cross in the Argentine province of Tucumán in the middle of the Seventies. Helena, a Holocaust survivor, houses Clara, who escapes from an authoritarian father and the intolerable political reality that is lived in the Argentina of the moment. Both establish a relationship of complicity that is the engine of the story of two women crossed by violence.
The memory, revived by these encounters, leads Helena to recover her devastating European past, her escape from Vienna and her first years in Argentina as a refugee in a small Tucumán town. Later, in the early eighties and with the Falklands War as background, Clara enquires into Helena's past and in her own past and present, shaken by revelations that mark a turning point in her life, the end of innocence.

Reviews
“Eichmann, the dictatorship and Tafí del Valle as background. Claudia Solans presents her second novel, Journey to Winter. Two women, sorrow and loss” La Gaceta
“Solans knows how to navigate between times and distances with skill. The story reveals little by little the sorrows, griefs and sufferings of two women. Through a nonchronological timeline, the experiences of each are organized. Real facts work as inspiration for this novel which enquires with sensitivity a dark time in the history of the country”, La Nación
