Author Biography

Dr. M. C. Vasudevan has one of the largest operated series of large and giant vestibular
schwannomas in the world. He currently heads the Postgraduate Institute of Neurological
Surgery, Achanta Lakshmipathi Neurosurgical Center. This department at the Voluntary Health
Services Multispeciality Hospital and Research Institute was started by Prof B. Ramamurthi and
Dr. Vasudevan has been a neurosurgeon along with him from the time of inception. Dr. Vasudevan
loves to operate on these formidable lesions in the sitting position.

Dr. A. Vincent Thamburaj a direct student of Prof B. Ramamurthi has excelled in the
practice and teaching of neurosurgery over the past 4 decades. Following his ten years in the UK,
he has been closely associated with PGINS ALNC at the VHS and also practices at the
Apollo Hospitals Chennai. He is credited with initiation of aneurysmal surgery, trans-oral and
transnaso-sphenoidal procedures in Tamilnadu. He has edited the ‘Textbook of Contemporary
Neurosurgery’ in two volumes and also maintains ‘Neurosurgery on the web’, a teaching website,
recommended by the World Federation of Neurosurgeons, Neurological society of India, and the
Asian Australasian society of Neurological surgeons. In addition, he is also a member in
the Editorial board, Journal of Neurology & Stroke.
