Author Biography

Roman Malenkov is a founder and editor-in-chief of the Ukraine Incognita project, geographer, journalist, writer, author of local lore books and guides "UNESCO World Heritage in Ukraine", "10 countries after quarantine", "12 routes through Kyiv region", "67 stops in Cherkasy region", an experienced traveler , a well-known researcher and defender of cultural heritage in Ukraine. He graduated from the Faculty of Geography of Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. For ten years he worked as a lecturer at the University of New Technologies (2004-2014) and a researcher at the state enterprise "Center for Environmental Monitoring of Ukraine", in 2010-2015 – director of this enterprise. He took part in numerous field research and expeditions in many regions of Ukraine. He has 15 scientific publications. The Ukraine Incognita website, created by Roman Malenkov in 2005 together with Oleh Hodyna, is now one of the most comprehensive and popular local history websites in Ukraine. Also Roman Malenkov worked as a host and screenwriter in the local history TV series "Unique Ukraine 2", actively participates in radio and television programs as an expert and local historian. Since 2015, he has been the director of the Ukraine Incognita tour operator, which specializes in tours to little-known parts of Ukraine.
