Since 2006, Mr. Huang Yongyu has created 14 picture-text works on the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac every year, with cultural anecdotes, historical allusions, legends and his thoughts of social issues as well as his personal life experiences and artistic attitude incorporated therein. Totally 168 works have been created in 12 years, and the twelve creatures of the Chinese zodiac constitute a perfect completeness. They are humorous as well as poetic and interesting; ethereal, fresh and lifelike, containing the wisdom and philosophy of life; also blend his sense of innovation in the paintings, fitting the modern era's psychological needs for auspicious culture and those for folk culture; and expound the Chinese zodiac cultural concept of "vivid lifelikeness".
