Trauma and Teens
A Guide and Toolbox for Working Towards Wellbeing in Schools and Homes
by Frederique Lambrakis-Haddad
Description
A straightforward, jargon-free book that draws on educational and psychological theory, first-hand experience and a series of interactive case studies to explore how we can become better parents and educators of our teens when faced with trauma.
Teens themselves may also want to read this book with an adult because the book engages the reader visually and also with “discussion” questions which are specifically targeting teens and the adults around them. This book hopes to promote discussion and communication between teens and their parents/carers and teachers.

'A crucial, accessible, comprehensive, and easy-to-read guide for practitioners who work with teenagers. I loved reading this book and I highly recommend it to practitioners from any discipline or modality. The book is clearly built on many years of hard-earned practice wisdom, and it is inspirational in its varied, creative, holistic, and integrative approach. Every page reveals helpful guidance to be treasured. Bravo!'
-- Clark Baim, PhD, author of Attachment-based Practice with Children, Adolescents and Families'
‘An invaluable resource for anyone who parents, cares for or educates teens who are experiencing trauma in any of its forms. It is rich with insight, advice and detail but remains very accessible. I know from personal experience that had it been available to me as a teen it would have been enormously beneficial when dealing with the challenges I was facing. Any book that helps teenagers move towards a happier life is a must.’
-- Zoe Lyons, Comedian and Presenter
‘Do not be misled by the simplicity of the pen portraits that sketch out the challenges so many of us face as parents and educators. This book is filled with insightful and practical resources that will give you greater confidence in dealing with the complexities that Covid in particular has exacerbated for young people. It will also give you greater awareness of the qualities you might bring to the table in providing support to whoever you are here to help.’
-- Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive, Girls’ School Day Trust
