Author Biography

Mahmut Şenol was born in Istanbul
in 1958. He started his early career in
Journalism while studying Economics
in college. He received a Master’s
Degree in Political Science from
Istanbul University’s Social Sciences
Institute. He started his career at the
Cumhuriyet newspaper and worked
for several media organizations in
Turkey for 8 years. Family connections
uprooted him from Turkey in 1998,
and led him to Indiana, USA. There
he took some graduate level courses
in Political Philosophy at Purdue
University as a visiting student. While
working for WLFI, a local affiliate for
the CBS TV Channel, he returned
to his journalism roots and started
sending articles and interviews on
a freelance basis. He is currently
correspondent for Açık Gazete (an
internet news portal) and sends
biweekly human interest stories for
Cumhuriyet’s Sunday Edition. He has
published 7 books in Turkey between
2005 and 2012 including 5 novels
and 2 non‐fiction books. He also has
written a theatre play.
