THE LOVE POTION
The bestselling title by Swedish author, sold in Danish, Finnish, French, German and Norwegian.
by Karin Brunk Holmqvist
Description
The two Svensson sisters have both passed the 70-mark and lead a quiet and content life in their childhood home in Borrby, Østerlen, Sweden. When the businessman, Alvar Klemens, buys the house next door as his summer residence, new winds start to blow. The two sisters who are normally extremely prudent when it comes to money, feel the need for a make-over to catch the attention of the attractive neighbour.
One day the sisters witness how a male cat practically throws himself on a female cat after he has eaten some of the flowers in Alvar’s garden. Tilda and Elida now hatch a brilliant plan which will enable them to fund their need for new acquisitions. And from that day, their life never becomes the same again.

Author Biography
Karin Brunk Holmqvist (b. 1944) grew up in Österlen and as a little girl she dreamt of becoming a circus princess and a journalist. Sometimes she feels as if she became both. She has been a magician's assistant, a bikini model, a local politician and an actress until she started writing full time in 2004.
Karin's novels are all set in the same geographic area of Sweden, but their themes are universal and appeal to readers everywhere. Reminiscent of the movie House of Angels, her main characters are ordinary people who live ordinary lives until something happens that changes everything and brings spark and magic to their existence. She describes the meeting between young and old, old times and new times with warmth and empathy and her writing is suffused with that special humour and quirkiness that can also be found in the writings of Jonas Jonasson and Michael Niemi.
Babel-Bridge Literary Agency
Babel-Bridge specialises in translation rights representation world-wide on behalf of publishing houses and agencies. At Babel-Bridge, every single book is carefully selected for its potential ability to travel, be it for its universal theme, its commercial hook or stunning artwork, or indeed all three. Babel-Bridge represents mainly books from the Nordics and the UK, but we wish to grow the portfolio to include beautiful books that tick the aforementioned boxes from other corners of the world. To that end, Babel-Bridge will rely on close collaboration with subagents, who are strongly placed to identify the books that are most likely to travel, but where the rights holder lacks the network abroad.
